E3 Is Officially Dead - IGN Daily Fix

The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) has announced the end of E3 for good, 28 years after the first event took place. Plus, Sony has acknowledged today's reports of a security breach at Insomniac and said it is investigating. Disney’s head of gaming, Sean Shoptaw, explains why the company was happy to renegotiate on Indiana Jones for Xbox.

E3 no longer being a thing is kind of sad, it was always something that brought the gaming industry together as a community.

E3 was awesome during the Xbox 360/PS3 era, during the time of Bungie's _Halo_ games, the _Mass Effect_ trilogy, _Dragon Age: Origins, Skyrim, _ and so many more awesome titles.

This was already predictable when we saw that companies didn't need E3 anymore to showcase/market the new games they have in the works. State of play, xbox showcase and nintendo direct, it was inevitable that E3 was on it's way out permanently.

A shame as E3 used to be the event of the year for gaming, but looks like the gaming awards might take over for being the reveal hub
