Starting at 10 PM EDT, join THG devs as we watch a totally redone and remastered version of the famous Real-Time Sinking animation synced up to the anniversary of the disaster. The Titanic model, iceberg collision, breakup, final moments, and more are all updated.

⛴ While the goal of THG is to remember and commemorate the lives aboard Titanic by recreating all details of her and the entire story as realistically and historically precise as possible, it is only sometimes foolproof. This is especially true with a reconstruction of the sinking: no one animation can nor should be considered 100% accurate or accepted as absolute fact as what happened that fateful night in 1912. Saying as much would be akin to the same hubris as calling Titanic unsinkable.

💅🏼 The THG Team wishes to applaud our Media Manager, Jack Gibson, for taking on such an endeavor as animating a new sinking animation as a gift to the whole community and us. We are very proud and impressed with his work with our various Titanic models in Unreal Engine 5. But Jack hopes everyone forgives him for any programming bugs or errors (stand by your fantastic work, Jack!)

🚣 We love creating Titanic content for everyone to enjoy. However, we must stress that this sinking animation is not representative of what may or may not be in the final or any upcoming versions of Titanic: Honor and Glory, the THG Alpha, or Titanic: Project 401.

📜 We always seek to improve and gladly accept constructive criticism of our current work. What you are watching won't be our last animation on the sinking - as we attempt to get it as accurate as possible. Feel free to post your critiques, questions, or comments on our progress!

🌜 Titanic sank on a moonless night. If you were outside and didn't have your vision interrupted constantly by the ship's lights, your eyes would eventually be adjusted to the darkness. However, it would still be quite dark. To allow audiences to see the events unfold, we have decided to keep the lighting as you will see it.

👩‍🎓 We treat this as a documentary. There were many sources used to assist in its creation which we implore you to scour and study yourself. One such is "Report into the Loss of the SS Titanic A Centennial Reappraisal" by Samuel Halpern. This book was heavily utilized. While it is nearly impossible to translate the report directly from page to 3D without weeks or months of intense work, Jack and the researchers did their best.

🔬Research is fluid - and Mr. Halpern released updates on his (right after we finished this animation!), which he shared, free for all to read.

📊 Read his latest articles on Titanic's sinking:

🎶 Select songs from Titanic's band composed by Ege M. Erdogan. More of his work will be featured in Titanic: Project 401, coming soon!

111 years later and the world is still fascinated by Titanic and her story. Stunning animation, definitely one of the best out there.

witness account from a danish survivor - "I shared a cabin with three other young girls, two English and one Swedish. We went to bed early on April 14th because third-class passengers had to leave the deck by 10 pm. We woke up to a bump after half an hour, but quickly fell asleep again.

At 12:30, there was a knock on the door, and my uncle said, "You better put on a coat and come up to the deck"... so I put on my coat over my nightgown and went up to the deck.

We had hit an iceberg and there was music in the first-class salon. There was no panic, not even when the lifeboats were lowered, no one was in a hurry to get into them, women and children went into the boats first.

Once we were in the water and a good distance away from the Titanic, we could still hear the orchestra playing. One person said it was the hymn "Nearer My God to Thee". I didn't know it as it is an English hymn. There were six crew members rowing the lifeboat. The sea was completely calm like a mirror. We were surrounded by other lifeboats, and there were many icebergs around us.

The disaster happened before anyone expected it. With horror, we heard an indescribable noise and screams from a thousand voices coming from this giant ship, it split in two, rose towards the sky, and disappeared. We sat petrified and watched it all happen, what was worse than the screams was the silence that followed, it was terrible." - Carla Christine Nielsine Andersen-Jensen

Something that sends chills down my spine is the moment the ship was fully submerged. Witnesses said it was just pitch black and all you can hear is screaming and the twisting metal below the water. Just thinking about that monstrosity being so huge that you can hear it underwater freaks me out for some reason.

This whole OceanGate tragedy has reminded me that the queen of the seas still down there and obviously still claiming souls. How the tragedy ended reminded me of the beginning of the Cameron movie when Brock says, "These windows are 9 inches thick and if they go, it's sayonara in two microseconds.“
So I had to watch the scene again and the Titanic got me back.
Right now, I'm sitting here building the Titanic Lego set, with over 10, 000 pieces and listening to this live stream. And I just wanted to let you know that right now there's no place I'd rather be and there's nothing I'd rather be doing. Keep up the nice work!

I like that they dedicated the stream to *all* passengers aboard the ship of whom none are alive today.

It's so great to see one of the popular channels finally get the fourth funnel's collapse correct!
The funnel canting up in the water perfectly explains Dillon seeing it cant toward him not when when the stern righted, but rather "When she went down." And also why he later doubted whether he even saw it fall.
It also perfectly explains why several people - Jack Thayer, John Collins, Ida Hippach, Edward Buley, George Crowe, etc - thought that the fourth funnel went underwater still standing, as it would already be difficult to see, but then submerge only a few seconds later.

Much of an improvement!

An incredible evening! Thank you THG team for putting tonight's remembrance and recreation together. It goes down in my book as one of the best live-stream experiences I have had on youtube!

This is the most accurate Titanic sinking I have ever seen. The small details only an expert would recognize stuns me

Easily the best, most believable depiction of the break up that I've seen to date

Amazing work lads. That end sequence was rather horrifying, actually brought a tear to my eye! Can't begin to imagine the horror of the last 20 minutes or so.

A stunning new animation, and great to finally see some new interior flooding animations which were truly chilling. The improvement in the water quality on previous animations is fantastic. It was interesting to see that at the end, the fourth funnel does not collapse when the ship breaks up - and the entire stern section seems to stick up at a very high angle before the final plunge similar to the '97 movie - in recent years I thought it had been agreed that this did not happen and such a high angle was ony reached in the last few seconds.

I walked through Project 401 the other night for the first time and was like a kid in a candy store. Your projects are historically groundbreaking. The fact I could explore an early 1900’s ship I’ve loved my entire life as if I was there is so immensely surreal. Thank you so much for doing what I dreamed someone of doing forever. Letting me live the dream of experiencing that great piece of engineering.

I think this is the first time I felt the raw horror of the final moments in a real-time.

I think all the real-times - this, Titanic Animations, OASOG/Tom - are good and have their own strengths. But this was the first time I felt the scope.

Love the stream and the music. Watching the ship sailing in daylight and looks amazing along with the music.
