Teseo (1712)

Aria di Teseo:

Chi ritorna alla mia mente
La perduta rimembranza
Chi mi rende, a'i Lumi il dì?
Io nol' so! Ma già consente
Il pensiero, alla Speranza,
Di mirar chi lo ferì.

And it's wonderful that we can discover for ourselves new hidden treasures! This time we should thank our dear Daniel for uploading Soederberg's videos. Without him who knows, we could have never discovered this great singer as I see the best singers in the world can be found mainly on YT first:-) So, long live Soederberg, Daniel and YT!:-)

Yes, I think so too that it's a nice touch. And the bird on your video is according to the text too:-). Very interesting colours and images. Thank you.

I agree. Another wonderful performance by Rickard Soederberg! Bravo! Handel is always great, of course, and different everywhere!:-) Wonderful, unusual and enchanting voice! There's something special in it, don't you think? Can't quite guess yet what it is but something very pleasant!:-)...Somebody can tell me what this "feri' " means? Is it "fe'ria"?...

Oops, a small mistake with the text... the libretto states "chi lo ferì" while Rickard sings "chi mi ferì." Comunque, spero che piaccia a tutti quanti!

Yes, cara, the bird's warbling is part of the recording itself... I think it's a nice touch! Of course, I feel in nature while listening to the aria, then... :-)

I don't understand how this could be a part of the album "Castrato Arias uncut edition". It needs to be sung an octave higher, right?

It is a very lovely aria.

Ah, grazie caro Daniele.Certamente, dal verbo "ferire".You just confused me with too much information where lo and where mi. Your fault! LOL Just kidding. Actually very beautiful video. Are you nostalgic too?:-)Is bird's singing recorded in the aria? Interesting. This forest reminds me our great Russian picture by Ivan Shishkin adapted to popular image as "The Bears on the trees" but without bears here:-)I guess all the Russians will be here soon and you won't have enough space to mention them all:)

Chris, just use your imagination what a castrato is and how this aria can be "a castrato aria uncut edition":-) Yeah, right, if it were a castrato voice or a CT now it would be sung an octave higher, but he is a tenor:-)
