1:50 its insane to think how much "time" is stored in that room over history, INCREDIBLE not to mention all the stories, all the people and all the generations that gold has seen. Potentially gold from Ancient Mesopotamia, pirates over the seas or gold from the likes of south America like Peru or Mayan civilizations as well even could be there! I just find it so fascinating on history of this!

250 billion pounds of pure gold, all owned by a country that doesn't have a single gold mine. How can one make sense of that in a fair world except this one?

They mentioned how currency was invented. When goldsmiths issues IOUs. But they never mentioned how banking was invented. Banking was invented when those same goldsmiths realised that there was never a time when everyone called in their gold IOUs, so they could issue more IOUs than gold that they were holding. And that is banking - making money from gold that doesn't exist.
