you brought me to tears reminiscing - i am 72 and have been devoted to apple since 1984. my favorites have been the lampshade mac, clamshell laptop in colors, my beloved newton which like it or not was the precurser to our iphones. funny story, my wife hated computers but i ran our business on macs. she said that when they come in red, her favorite color, she would get one. she was true to her word and bought a red imac when it was released and used macs until she passed away 5 years ago. thx for the memories....i love what you do

FWIW, the reason magazines (like Macworld, where I worked for 16 years) got so light is not because production costs were cut. Thin paper is EXPENSIVE. But the cost of shipping by weight got very expensive, and it was cheaper to mail out magazines made with expensive light paper than to mail out magazines made with heavy paper. So the light, cheap feel is actually a response to rising postal rates and not paper costs.

Another side note - we got the original cover photographer to come in to our offices and bring his negatives, and we re-scanned them, so that photo has never looked better than it did on the 25th anniversary cover.

Honestly cool to see a YouTuber who's been here since the beginning still uploading with no drama.

I got the first Macintosh in 1984 when I was 9 years old along with a subscription to Macworld magazine starting with issue #1. I read it (and MacUser and MacWEEK) religiously.

Later, I ended up writing for Macworld. You can see my headshot, byline, and writing on a few pages of the 2009 issue of Macworld in several shots in this video. Like Justine, it was a thrill for me to appear in the magazine I loved so much as a kid.

Oh man, this is so cool, and it's so nice to reminisce about the good old days! You could bring this along with you on your commute to work/school, share it with colleagues/classmates, etc. The layouts were also an inspiration and taught you about typesettings etc. I was 14 back in 1984. Couldn't afford them as they were expensive here, but one could always go into a book store and read one there. Good ol' days!

I have the same two Macworld magazines! The 1984 edition was my user guide that motivated me to buy a Macintosh the second week it was out. At $2, 495, it was not cheap. I had to use the insurance money I got when my VW bug was stolen. I began taking my Mac into work at Disney Imagineering. It attracted so much attention that it became the alternative computer to the Sperry PCs and Wang word processors we were using previously, especially when programs like Photoshop and Pagemaker appeared. The Mac was the key to a whole new career for me.

Actual magazines are so deliciously analogue. The smell of the print is quite lovely.

Fantastic iJustine vlog instead of just an 'ad' video 🥰

I spotted a couple pieces with my byline in that 2009 issue! I used to read Macworld cover to cover as a teenager in the '90s, and to this day, I'm still so proud that I managed to contribute to it over so many years. What a great team we had in that late 2000s/early 2010s run.

I have like the last 3 years of Macworld magazines saved somewhere. Going to the last Expo was a cool experience.

It’s very interesting that the archive still goes strong. ARCHIVING IS IMPORTANT! Vintage magazines are fun.

Believe it or not, that original Apple Mac from 1984, there are people that are still USING them, not just as a trivial past time but productively. Once again, BELIEVE IT OR NOT.

I was a regular contributor to a sister magazine called Network World. It was a totally classy outfit with a publisher (IDG) who cared for their magazines and supported their contributors.

I love old magazines when I find them. They were so well made. I remember spending so much time at our high school library reading ancient copies of the Fortune magazine... Justine could review a brick and I'd watch it 😀

I recently listened to Jobs biography audiobook, nice to see his face on a magazine, He did great things and I remember when He made ipod for his daughter "throw this away, I will make you something better" I love his spirit and character.

Here in Brazil I also had this nostalgic feeling, because I remembered several magazines that were published here for Apple users, especially “MacMais”, who were true pioneers to bring Apple content to such a remote and technologically backward country. These magazines were decisive when I bought my first iPhones and when I bought my first iPad. I keep these magazines to this day with a feeling of returning to the past that I didn’t have time to taste. (Comment translated by iOS automatic translation)

Magazines are like a time capsule to a specific time and subject.
It’s great you have these!
