I've worked at haunts. The majority of them have plastic hanging, smoke machines, and poor wiring. I'm not sure what makes a smoke machine illegal, considering most of them are bought at Walmart or Spirit.

When I was a kid I went to a school called Franklin k. Lane in the early 80’s. Students went to 6 flags in Jersey and went into the haunted house. There was a fire in it and 5 students burnt up in it

until y’all have been in a fire caused by these violations that you fined stupid, you should really consider that us firefighters truly care about your safety and don’t shut down businesses or activities like this for fun. we have seen tragedy after tragedy, and it’s part of our job to protect you from being one of them.

"There was plastic hanging, there was a plan to avoid paying any taxes or bribes"

Look, it might not be nice, but that place does look like it could set fire really easily. So I get it.

I was on a class trip to 6 flags NJ the year before the haunted house burned down. I forget how many people were killed, but I know it was more than a handful. Turns out it was a fire trap with multiple code violations.

Thank you to the fire department for investigating. Everyone saying they are "killjoys" until someone is seriously hurt.

Hanging plastic, smoke machines and poor wiring…sounds like my bedroom with the wife on a Sunday morning.

But they can sell tickets knowing they won’t be open, so fraud is allowed. Good to know that the people who are running it are concerned only about their profits.

The guy said you couldn't find more violations in a small place. Blocked exits, faulty wiring and much more. I know there's many haunted houses as one person mentioned that are the same, but if it prevents even one person from being hurt or burnt up or even die, they should have vacated. They should be boarded up and closed down due to non compliance.

I like how you block the number on the text, but not on the website

Why use the word death trap and tarnish their business? stating violations and can't operate until corrected would be a better response. Safety is important but attempting to destroy a community landmark is sad. FDNY let's keep this approach in fairness towards other businesses.

I would be concerned about the blicked emergency exits, but the rest of it just sounds like a normal haunted house! 😂

All the crime taking plaice in New York, but this is what we’re talking about? 🤦🏽‍♂️

In other words, if there is a fire while having a large amount of occupants… the building would need more than one exit. 👌Ok got it.

Meanwhile im more worried about the people getting shoved onto the subway tracks but hey to each their own.

I’m glad they’re being proactive, it certainly wouldn’t be the first time a haunted house burned down taking multiple lives with it
