As a surge main, here’s a few tips and a fun fact
Tip 1 - Chaining super:
Shoot before using your super to already be halfway when landing, allowing you to gain your super faster

Tip 2- Using the other gadget is better
When the gadget is activated, most players will stop shooting at you until the duration of it has been completed. In order to stop this, use your gadget just before the projectile lands on you, allowing you to gain 2 extra ammo

Tip 3- Build
I found when getting surge 1100 trophies that the best gadget is:
Energy shield (forgot the name sorry, it is not the one this YouTuber suggested) which allows you to take half damage and gain 2 extra ammo

Gears:
Shield which makes Surge gain 900 extra health, due to his recent -600 health nerd this is really good
Damage, boosts his damage from 2300 to 2700 when at power 11

Star power:
For 3v3 maps and duo showdown, you’d want Serve Ice Cold, as it allows you to keep your stage 1 upgrade when defeated

For Solo Showdown, use the other star power as once you’re defeated, you cannot respawn

FUN FACT:
Did you know when it says he keeps his stage 1 during the whole match, it refers to when you use your super for the first time? Many people think this is stage 2 and that brawl stars made a typo when making this star power, however, if you go to his stats where it shows what his super does, you will see that it says:
STAGE 1 - boost in movement speed
STAGE 2 - longer projectiles
STAGE 3 - splitting projectiles
I have no idea whether this is intentional or not because his hypercharge is stage 5…

Star power only showdown because you can better kill, shield gadget, gears; this one and shield

In higher trophies, you will prefer to use the other star power, since you can die a lot, the shield is considered better because it guarantees that there will be no lack of attacks to eliminate an enemy.

The other gadget is so much better. Power surge is better at the start, so that you can get your speed bosst quickly, but power shield is better fornthe whole match because with it you can absorb 50 percent of the damge and gain 2 ammo which is very useful for combat. My rank 34 surge proves that

For showdown the other gadger can prove to be better, specially in solo (don't play that much duo). Besides that, all you said is pretty good, and the level up gadget is better in almost every other mode.

Bro just by using these tricks you cant get rank 30 im surge main i use every of your tricks and im still not rank 30 i just hate the "Free rank 30" tricks

Surge was my first rank 30 and my first mastery, i agree with almost everything exept gadget, the shield gadget in showdown its rly good to block something like piper shot or dyna super or kill someone with high hp, in 3v3 you can easily team wipe with 2-3 supers and 5-6 ammo in just a second and also block some dmg, the power up gadget is good in open knockout maps, bc you can use speed to get near other brawlers or range against piper and other snipers
