i went to the silk mall when i was in beijing and it gave me ANXIETY to negotiate with these people. My dad lived there so all we had to say was “what’s the wechat price?” and they would laugh and drop the price.

Since I didn't grow up in a country where bargaining is a thing, this is all really weird to me. Even though it is overpriced, I expected the sellers to get mad at the bargaining, but it seemed to be even on the contrary. After the bargaining they opened up more and actually started to laugh more and generally seemed pretty happy. I really enjoyed watching this, and it showed me an entirely different culture. :)
