Foil etching experiment

This is one of the thee experiments from the "Metal contest" set by MEL Science. It shows how a mixture of copper sulphate and sodium chloride (table salt) "eats through" the aluminium foil.

This is another example of a single displacement reaction where a more reactive aluminium displaces copper from its solution and dissolves.

The role of sodium chloride will be explained in the next experiment.
