A feature that would really make the radio (as well as the 858) useful is being able to connect the APRS data output to a tablet or laptop using the bluetooth. Then I could plot multiple people on an "offline" map.

It is missing APRS messaging and display of APRS weather data according to bridgecom. So not fully featured APRS compared to FT2/3DR or D74.

Don't get me wrong... I love Anytone radios, and own a 578 and 878. Yet to charge an additional $75 over the previous 878 plus, is pretty a steep price increase. You get a few hundred more megabytes of memory, and APRS receive, a software update that few will use anyway. Anytone has us over the barrel because they know we are at the limit with our radios as far as containing the entire DMR ID database. The $300 price is approaching that of the best Japanese DStar handhelds.
