In all the years of the US supporting the Kurds, I have heard very little about another local minority that seems to occupy much the same area and which happens to be mostly Christian--the Assyrians. I have friends from this group who fled from Iran, so I know they still exist as a fairly numerous distinct group, and their historical homeland is right in the border region of eastern Syria and northern Iraq. Maybe the US doesn't work with them because they don't have as much of a fighting force, but I think that Chuck would get along well with them since he has spent so much time in Syria and they have a lot in common with the Armenians. If you ever get a chance, Chuck, I hope you can find one of their communities.

You are in a far better position than I to speak to this development, but it's what came to my mind as soon as I heard of Bashar Al-Assaads ouster. This presents an array of scenerios where Turkey ( a NATO member) Isreal & the Kurds, (US allies) & varying factions Allied with Iran, it's proxies & the Russians can conflict! This seems a volatile "stew" about to boil over. It's interesting to watch, especially for those possessing spiritual acumen.
