I'll never forgive kpoppies and keyboard warriors (who've apparently never taken a lit class) for ruining such a poignant album like Chatshire. It's clearly about her experience as a teen pop star in an industry that sexualizes young female idols, but I guess this flies over people's head. The use of satire, metaphor, etc don't exist, I guess. She was so brave for calling out uncle fans and other nasty men who oogle over female idols that are minors. Her main fault was that she should have written her lyrics and delivered her concept in a point-blank manner instead of over-estimating the intelligence of kpop listeners.

Just want to bring this on board, chatshire was an album that spoke about iu's public image and personal feelings, her growing up in public etc.
I can't say anything about zeze as it's very subjective. Some people might see it as sexualisation of a young boy, some people might see it as a way of iu talking from her toxic fans' perspective or from the tree's perspective. IU gave her verdict but we'll never know her true intentions.
But in regards to the lolita concept or the photos....the 23 mv is a crystal clearly showing how the public sees her and wants her to be Vs how she wants to be to the point she's having borderline identity crisis. And that is the whole theme of chatshire.
When chatshire was released there were n number of cases where netizens saw almost everything as lolita concept.. without even realising that it's usually k netz (toxic ones) who fetishize, objectifies and sexualise idols.. including IU who was called nation's little sister but still people made disgusting comments about her and her body.
So for me chatshire as an album won't be IU's way of using lolita theme gor her benefit but to show people how she felt when they objectified her and put them on spotlight for such behaviour (aka make them uncomfortable by throwing it on their faces)
Now as a Hindu didn't see that as a bindi...it looked like some sticker placed between forehead...there are different kinds of bindis but that didn't look like one to me- it looked kinda like a planet..so I'll have to see more pictures myself. Culture appropriation is not a topic of discussion for me. If it's CA then she needs to be held accountable. Period

Just to let you know, IU once said 'Please hate me and love me a lot, that is my driving force'. I become a fan through her drama, but bcoz of her controversies, through searching a lot about her, trying to understand what is going on, and found that she is a really nice and humble person, and i become totally her fan. So to all the haters, bring it on.

wow, kpopsies really doing everything to destroy her 😅 all the issues were nothing but a witch hunt. in the end all of them apologize to her publicly. we believe in IU karma so no worries.. if all of these make her problematic, we’re good i guess 😂 will take it than bullying 😬🙊

ofcouse she knows about the lolita concept that knetz accused her that why before she accept my mister she asked the director if they know about the controversy and still want to cast her but the director believed in her and didnt care about the “scandal”

people doing anything just to make her problematic, i've been following her since heroes and none of her past issue will make you hate her coz she face them all and proved them wrong on her own, no big company backing her. give it up already, you can never take her down coz shes a strong woman. and she deserves all the love.

Haters don’t see good things in people… love to find bad things in every angle!

I especially think that this video is problematic.
Ok you only expose these controversies, but you never give a contrary point of view on them.
And I think that's a problem, because this video has a fake teaser title, and when you've seen the video, you can only trust what these people said.
I'm a fan of IU, I already know why these polemics are all stupid.
But for someone who knows her little, he could really be influenced by these criticisms, and that is problematic.

The Lolita issue really highlights how they missed the fucking point of the entire album, including Twenty Three.

Here are excerpts of what a Korean song critic wrote about Twenty Three last year for their Top 100 Kpop Songs feature(google translated):

'Twenty-three' is an accusation that she, who has existed as a 'target' of a girl idol since she was a teenager, was actually aware of all the gazes of objectification, and at the same time, it is a declaration that she will not be swayed by such gazes, but rather appropriate them.

...It was a natural consequence that a creator who grew up exposed to the public for half her life wrote a work based on her life. However, at that time, most of us did not know that the 'national sister' would make music based on the idea of being so raw.

While some welcomed her grand challenge, others were outraged by the misreading of Signal. As a popular singer with strong bones, she would have expected a sharp reaction to some extent, but she would have endured it nonetheless. But in the end, even such a reaction made this song bigger than a single song. Now, after a while, we know that those who reacted to the song in an extreme way are the gazes in the song.
----
That entire album was about confronting how she's been portrayed in her career. And it totally flew over their heads then.

About JUNGKOOK'S case there is nothing to hate on iu about it and the cultural appropriation as an Indian i would say there is nothing wrong with bindi and more she was looking absolutely beautiful and this isn't any cultural appropriation? Like we all are using each other's culture in many ways eating foods from different cultures, wearing different clothes from different cultures too, doing many stuffs ? Why she's being called out like that? It's nothing wrong until she disrespected any culture

I am Indian and Bindi is like a makeup thing we use. When foreigners visit India they do adorn it. We feel proud when people try to understand our culture

not even in this video but Literally, people hating her just because Jungkook said she's his ideal type are the most toxic. Ahem, let me tell you this, excuse me but it wasn't IU who said that. It was Jungkook, and why did she got the blame ? Neither of them deserves the hate for this. Or what ?! You think u have a chance with them ? Get our of your dreamland, "armies" 😒

making mistakes for a few times and continuously improving to be better can't be considered as problematic bro leave iu alone.
SK people loving her even after many scandals is the reason why she is not problematic . She is one of the most humble and down to earth artist that I've known .

People defending her actions should understand that's not the way she'll understand what's wrong doesn't mean she deserves hate but if your fav did something wrong teach them

I believe in karma so if she is a bad person the karma will do it's job.
Personally I think she is a good person because she's been top in the kpop for almost 14 years.
Those maybe was her mistakes or not who knows.
