The asteroid Bennu could hold the secrets to how our solar system was formed (if it doesn't smash into Earth and kill us all). Claire Reilly takes a look at the seven year mission to investigate Earth's second biggest space threat.

If I’ve learnt anything from disaster films, Australia pretty much always survives, so we’re safe.

This show amazes me every time. So much research. So many puns. So much pop culture. Just enough zaniness. Really fun and very informative.

Tag only? I would think they would go after non-surface dirt since the dirt on the surface could have been collected recently as the asteroid travels through space.

I almost blocked this channel for its click-bait title but it says CNET so I clicked. Did I just watching a video from the Katering show? Hmmm....

Wouldn’t the probe have to drill quite deep into the asteroid to get any useful information? Anyway we need more Claire Reilly as she’s brilliant & funny

Wouldn't tagging that asteroid in the demonstrated manner cause a very slight micro-unit course alteration which might direct the damn thing squarely towards us?

Bennu will not "kill us all". It is far too small to do that. The predicted impact energy would be around 1200 megatons. Not nearly enough to "kill us all". Impacts of this size object occur on average every 130, 000 years. That means mankind has likely already endured an impact by a Bennu-sized asteroid. The presenter mis-categorizes and confuses the Palermo Impact Scale with the Torino Scale. Palermo rates probability of impact, Torino rates extent of potential effects. Two completely different things.

Let us compare the Bennu asteroid with the one that "wiped out the dinosaurs", as an example of how goofy this presenter's story is.

"Dinosaur Killer" Diameter: 10km (6.4 miles). Bennu Diameter: less than 0.5 km (0.310 miles).

We live in the "post-truth" era, where presenters throw out bogus facts in order to get noticed and achieve popularity, however undeserved.

This raisin hate is ridiculous. It is like casually joking about chocolate looking like shit and being amazed why someone would like it. The opinion of people is so radically different i'm starting to suspect genetics are involved.
