Dropshipping is a HORRIBLE Business & You Shouldn't Do It

This short little clip from the richest man in the world, founder and CEO of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, emcompasses every reason why dropshipping won’t last

Dropshipping was one of the latest… we’ll call it “business out of a box” schemes that has been around for a few years now

This is where internet marketers claim that if you buy their course, they’ll teach you how with very little effort, you can make money, quit your job, buy a lambo, without much effort

There are many forms of it: ebay dropshipping, amazon dropshipping, print on demand, etc.

The whole premise is that you can find these so-called “winning products” from wholesale distributors, usually from China with Aliexpress

You find the winning product
You get traffic to your website via paid ads on Facebook and Instagram
People buy
You pocket the difference - aka retail arbitrage

When you get paid at a job, you made money because you provided value to your employer in the form of your labor.

And in every other business it’s the exact same - you make money from customers when you provide enough value to them

The more value, the more money you make

So money is really just a storehouse of value

In Jeff’s own words, customers that buy products online only care about these three things: low prices, big selection, fast delivery

And since that’s literally all Amazon focuses on, that’s probably why Jeff is the richest man in the world

Yet, what are the only things people and online gurus focus with dropshipping?

I have to come home EVERYDAY & argue with my brother over this shit. He SWEARS that “if we do this dropshipping thing for long enough, we can quit our jobs and hire our mom as an employee.” I’ve tried & tried & tried to tell him that shit like this would have been a good idea in 2011, but Amazon has stepped their game up. If you figure out how to do something better than them, they’ll undercut you. If you figure out how to be nicer, they’ll drop their prices. If you figure out a unique product, they’ll make it for cheaper. Amazon wins. I’m so sick of coming home & having to talk to a brick wall that’s trying to get me to throw my money away with him on a fake business model.

I got dropshipped once, I was tricked into thinking it was a hand made product. It turned me into a more suspicious buyer and if I find out someone is dropshipping I will never buy anything from them.

I did dropshipping for a couple years. I wasn't "making millions" but I did make a full time income. I would not make make customers wait 3 weeks for their product though. I would usually test a product using a "pre-order" method in which if I got enough traction on a product, I'd order the product in bulk and use a fullfillment center in the US, that way new customers would have sub 5 day shipping times. Unfortunately I have shiny object syndrome, and that's why I eventually quit.
Dropshipping isn't dying as a whole, but dropshipping from China is.
