I don’t know if anyone will even read this but I’m on week 3 of my quarantine & I’ve ended up here with nothing but time on my hands so excuse me as I ramble . My homie Jordz passed away at 22 years old. This song always reminds me of him . Although I’m not as big a rap connoisseur as I once was every so often I come back to this song . It reminds me of my misguided and misspent youth . This whole tape resonated with me so much . At the time Kendrick was a voice for me where I felt voiceless and misunderstood . Ive grown to see him become an icon even bigger than what I imagined he would become where people who wouldn’t give this tape a chance have become fanboys so-called . Back in 2012 Dot did a gig at the Astor Theatre in Perth . Me & another homie (shoutouts Mackey) couldn’t get in since we didn’t have tickets but the bro had cash. I was flat broke. My bro tried bribing the guard but he wasn’t having it so we sat at the back & listened to the concert through the walls for a while off the reefer. Eventually as I grew older I found what I was looking for. But I’m grateful for this music & what it meant to me at the time. Thank you for this mix, thank you Kendrick & Thank you God for your Son Jesus Christ whom delivered me from darkness & the path in which I was headed .

I made it to 21. But there’re still many things too tough to grasp on, as I’m undoubtedly the slowest kid in the family and I’d lived inside my bubble for too long. I thank the music and specifically from Kendrick and Ye and from other musicians for aiding me through hard times and I thank my good friends and my l bro for lovingly showing me the mistakes. First time heard this track when I was like 22 and I could remember the state of mind I had at that time was so ignorant and lacking discipline but overall the words grabbed me. Now I’m 33 and came back to visit this track and tears fell from my eyes cause I had a moment of reflection and realized I gained and loss so much over these years but IM STILL HERE breathing!!! For anyone that thinks about throwing in the towel just remember YOUR NOT ALONE AND OTHERS ARE FEELING THE SAME PAIN. I love you keep your head up, life is lesson so pay attention and try not to repeat mistakes!!!
