I wonder just how much torque or horsepower a large scale version could produce, and how much thermal energy it might take to get it to operate. Seems that the oceans hydrothermal vents provide the perfect setup for a large sterling engine.
Hydrothermal vents produce temperatures above 700 degrees, with surrounding water temperatures below 40 degrees.
It might be a great way to generate electricity, if capable of turning a large enough generator.
