I started watching Eurovision in 2013, and this is the first song I remember from that year. It's such a shame it didn't qualify, because this is true singing.

I'm still pissed this wasn't appreciated enough. This was nice traditional music sung very well. It deserved the final (I had it in my top ten)...at least some nice out of the box music is starting to win this competition again (2016, 2017).

Klapa singing is a multipart singing tradition of the southern Croatian region of Dalmatia. Its main features are multipart singing, a capella homophonic singing, oral tradition, and simple music-making. The leader of each singing group is the first tenor, followed by several tenors, baritons and bass voices. During performances, the singers stand in a tight semicircle. The first tenor starts the singing and is followed by the others. The main aim is to achieve the best possible blend of voices. Technically, klapa singers express their mood using open guttural, nasal sotto voce and falsetto singing, usually in high-pitched tessitura. Another feature is the ability to sing freely, without the help of notation. Topics of klapa songs typically deal with love, life situations, and the environment in which they live. Bearers and practitioners are skilled amateurs who inherit the tradition from their predecessors...

So sad that we didn't got to see Croatia in Copenhagen this year :/

Very rare to see a male choral entry in ESC, and a very welcome indeed. An excellent song, excellently sung; all the men had awesome voices. Really enjoyed hearing the original language and just loved the harmonies! Totally deserved to be in the top 10 of the final.
