Reminds me of a tumblr post I saw where a girl was describing that her dad's been sad lately, and asked if he did something wrong.
So she asked him why he would think that, since she couldn't think of what caused the question.
Well, he asked why she didn't call him daddy anymore, and only sad dad, which she had apparently done only in anger before.
And she's like:
"look what you guys did, you made my dad sad bc you made the word daddy weird for me"

It's really weird. On one hand I find nerds to be a very open and welcoming community. On the other hand, is it really so unthinkable to treat a woman like a normal person? Playing with female friends usually either means hearing sexist remarks or pathetic dating attemps.

Ive made the same mistake, I used to have my name as “Puppyking” (i made the name when i was 10) and i had two women walk up to me in game, and say, “hey daddy, we’re two puppies, do you wanna be our king? (I was a minor at the time, and they were adults) I left and proceeded to change everything. I still cringe on that moment today 😬
