That was a really good review. Straight to the point. No messing around. Good job Autocar!

I hate reviews where 70% of the time you see the driver instead of the car's performance!

I did some work experience at Bentley Motors Crewe last March, when the development of the V8 engine and the new 8 speed box was in full swing. I'd just like to say (as if you didn’t already know) the attention to detail and the vast amount of man hours that went it to the project have resulted in a truly great car maybe even the best ‘all-things considered’ Bentley to date.

Very polished review. Thanks.
And 40% less use of fuel; that's fantastic.
People just need to realize that this is not less Bentley, it's just a different kind of Bentley.
If the dealers can sell them for $150K(US), many will find new homes.

Exactly what I wanted to know about the W12 vs V8. Thank you

At first I was considering the Lamborghini Murcielago, but now I'm really considering the Bentley GT V8. It'll be a couple years before I get one, but I'm going to get it. This is my dream car.

I like it a lot and I like V8s better than V12s. My neighbor has a Continental GT and it is a very nice car and extremely fast. A year from when this comes out factoring in their massive depreciation, I will probably pick one of these up.
In addition to their horrible gas mileage, V12 engines in general are just nightmares are very expensive to fix.

@DualofChaos I don't see it as a problem. For cars like this, the engine wasn't really part of its heritage, so it's no big loss as long as sound and performance are still good.

Big Ferraris, Lambos, and Astons will come with a V12 for a long time, I'm confident of that. The engine is part of what makes them special.

But for every other car that just had a big engine for performance, engineering innovations can give them better performance out of smaller engines, which is a good thing.

@DualofChaos
i believe you are correct, especially since 4cylinder turbos are the new v6, and v6 are the new v8.

@an50331 True, the reason why manufacturer went back to force feed is only for one reason, much more efficient burning of fuel. Merc has been doing this with supercharger, and Bimmer went turbo with the 335 if I remember correctly.
But that's for large manufacturers who need that "green" image. smaller supercar manufacturers don't need that burden.
The NA v12 in the Aventador can only do so much right? what if it needs another 300 horses to compete with future competitors?

im glad they didnt drop the pice by 40% simply because these are common enough. still this video tells you why. awsome car

Everyone in the car industry and motorsport are using smaller engine's but with turbos now. Mainly because the technology we have today make's these engines much more efficient and still they produce more power than the old one's. WTCC 1.6 turbo, same with WRC, and F1 next year going with 1.6ltr V6 turbo, it's all about emissions now and being enviornmentally friendly.

@venom5809 not at all. a w12 is 2 VR6's put together and the VR6 is a great engine and VERY reliable. its only when you turbo them they have problems.

@remelsheikh No, Bently is owned by VAG (Volswagen Automotive Group) and this is powered by the Audi S6/S8 power plant.

@jamecontent I know that the V8's power and torque numbers are about the same if not a little better. Its the character of the engine that I'm talking about. There's something extremely unique and special about the big and brawny W12 that no turbo V8 can come close to.

@GordonWG1
Absolutely right sir, I meant a supercharged Straight 6 or big displacement V8.Thx for the constructive remark

Just a question: If you are to buy a Bentley any time soon, are you going to be driving it on the track or on the street? Don't track me no Bentley, please...

I think many are forgetting that just because a car company wants to use a extremely powerful v12 in their car, doesn't mean they can. The governments of different countries will place more stringent emission laws in the future. Will the v12s make it to meet those laws? Well we can only hope.

@DualofChaos That doesn't matter. It matters IF the downsizing would fuck up the performance or sound. This doesn't do that. So, like the guy said, why would you want a V10 or V12 if a V8 is better in every single way. Mind you, i don't want petrol engines to disapear.
