The wasp instinctively checks it's hole every time after moving the katydid to the top of the hole, even if it was just checked seconds before.

Fascinating. Although I wonder if its implications aren't taken too soon. Maybe the wasp _does_ make the conscious choice to check the hole again, as while moving the katydid back to the hole, it might have changed again. Doing it up to 40 times (and probably more) might make that seem unlikely, but maybe the wasp has bad memory?
