Agreed, watching this in UHD was one of the best home-cinema experiences I had, only topped by 'Baby Driver', which has a special place in my heart because of the soundtrack and movements/cuts being in sync.

Interstellar is for me, the greatest cinema experience that I've ever had. The visuals, the biblical soundtrack, the acting, all combined for a moment that I'll remember for a lifetime. In the pantheon of scifi epics, this has to be one of, if not THE best ever made. Cheers.

This was the first movie I saw in Imax.. best experience ever. When he leaves Murph and drives off.. that scene made me drop tears.. fantastic scene.

I get goosebumps every time I listen to the score of Interstellar

If I could actually nail one down, Interstellar would easily be in my all time top 10.

It's an astonishingly brilliant film and it looks and sounds superb, great review as always....👍

"The film is real as it was shot on film which is different to shooting video. Video has been proven to work at the highest level but the film simply requires more skill."
I applaud you for your honesty concerning that matter, John. I also applaud you for doing right by Interstellar, acknowledging it as a visual masterpiece, and reviewing it as such.
Film reviewers, both professional and non-professional, have made a habit of calling Interstellar a poor film and accusing it of cinematic crimes it is not guilty of, such as not possessing internal logic. I believe the film (particularly the ending) was too radical for some viewers.
When I saw Interstellar for the first time in 2014, I saw it in a standard modern theater with digital projection; I nonetheless felt I had just seen a masterpiece and not merely a visual masterpiece but a masterpiece of cinema.
I appreciate your kindness towards other reviewers and for spreading awareness of their channels. I have now seen Clark Teddles review of the 4K of Close Encounters of the Third Kind as a consequence. - Erik

One of my favorite 4Ks I’ve seen so far! I think you’re right and Tenet might look better, but I really enjoyed it. Definitely happy having it in my collection.

Interstellar, 2001, Ad Astra and Blade Runner 2049 are the most stunning 4k UHDs at the moment. But after Villeneuves Dune will be available we'll have a new number one. Already saw it twice here in Germany, will see it tonight for a 3rd time. Too bad you'll have to wait another 4 weeks to see it in the UK. I just wish I could get the IMAX experience, but the closest IMAX theatre is 130 km away from where I live...

Fantastic Review as always, John! Thank you for mentioning me in the video, it is highly appreciated. I was just looking at some comparisons of the 4K for taxi driver and it looks amazing, deeper blacks and more color. Have a great day John!

Looks like we have the same opinion of this film. This film is masterful. Again - Nolan explored the concept of time via different methods / approaches. Hans Zimmer’s score is insane (Mountains is my favourite). My only gripe is love transcending time to send a message to the past via the future humans creation via the black hole dimension (although I do like the idea of the father/daughter connection). When Matt Damon gets blown out of the airlock, I jumped out of my imax chair! Haha - As you say though... the visuals in this film are beyond CGI - they are really why Nolan’s films won’t date because of his technique with practical.

My main complaint of the disc is the black levels - sometimes they are greyish and some space shots looked washed out. Otherwise though, the detail and colour are so much better.

Good advice; suspend disbelief and look at the pictures! Works for all his films, really. I will get this on 4k when/if the price is right, just to look at those space-shots..

Always avoided this one as I hate science fiction but I watched it during the first lockdown and was blown away. Then when the cinemas opened up again without new releases to show my local IMAX was reshowing a selection Nolan’s films. I’ve never booked a ticket so fast, what an experience.

I remember watching this movie and remembering the music was outstanding as is almost all of Hans Zimmer's scores. Dunkirk was equally impressive with the music that was constantly building creating a tension for the viewer to watch it. One scene in Dunkirk that I always rewind and watch again is the scene of the Spitfire dead stick over the beach with the engine not running. I think that scene alone is just a great example of excellent cinematography that Nolan is known for. This movie however I need to go back and watch again as the first time I watch was only in 1080p. Excellent review John. I really value your opinion here.

I watched this movie for the first time on Blu-ray, I liked it but it didn’t have much impact on me. Seeing it on 70mm did have a big impact, it was incredible! 70mm is the way to see this movie

After watching your review a few weeks ago, I decided to revisit the movie for the 1st time since seeing it in IMAX in 2014. I love the 1st 2hrs 20 mins, but that 20 mins ending deflates it for me. Total respect to Nolan for swinging for the fences with his ambition. We need more filmakers like him.

Your reviews are always top-notch, but surely - this is one of your best. For me, "Interstellar" is the "2001" of it's era. Thank you John for returning to it. Nolan is a director I truly respect, but must admit "Tenet" (though thoroughly engrossing and breathtaking) was a bridge too far for my little brain to comprehend - maybe one day I'll "get it". Interstellar was my best theater experience by far. I wish I could go back in time, so I could watch it for the first time again…

I love Interstellar. The score from Hans Zimmer is phenomenal. Nolan is a tremendous filmmaker. But a lot of people complain about the dialogue being inaudible. Have you ever noticed dialogue being inaudible issues with Nolan’s films? Regardless I still love it. This is my Christmas Eve movie. Gonna rewatch it tomorrow on 4K. You’re the man John.

This movie looks very good on 4K HDR. I never experience IMAX film theatre, but I remember that my local digital IMAX theatre looks worse than this 4K disc. Hans Zimmer's music is really touching.

Basically all the Nolan Imax scenes on all the Nolan films look absolutely amazing on 4k, and when you see how big the gauge of the imax film reels are you can kind of understand this.
As with all the Nolan films, all the answers and clues are right there on the screen, even if you have to go online to be sure.
Example, on the water planet, every click is one day passing on earth.
