This sounds great, thanks to Steve and Stu! Super hyped for 10th and I can confirm (though no one asked) that I also love wine and cheese...

Steven, truly love that the channel got this opportunity to interview Stu, but tbh this is like clearly a publicity campaign to simulate that GW is showing good will by “being open” with the community (which really is actually an opportunity for them) but these feel like such softball questions that their publicist either fed you or approved. I just expected some more interesting questions that were challenging, but respectful or just some more new information. Naturally with any interview around a company that’s had some drama they’ll have things that are off topic, but like instead of asking “how am I gonna get access to the data sheets” is cool that he specified you can buy the cards or use them online — he said it would be a completely new app on launch — a great new piece of news that it won’t be them trying to rework the spaghetti coded flop of an app the current one is. Would not a great follow up Q be asking how robust army list construction will be within the app? Like you don’t have to mention everyone uses BattleScribe, but allows them to answer a super relevant Q we all have in a safe and kosher way. Sorry man, I hope you hear this constructive criticism and can receive the feedback for the future, or maybe GW’s publicist can, but you’re like one of the top competitive players in the world, surely you can come up with more interesting and better Q’s than what’s been already answered / recycled from their WH community posts. The player base is smarter than that and we see you as a leader to respectfully challenge or at least seek interesting and novel info. I wanna believe this is on the publicist giving Stu easy Q’s and not on you. Otherwise this interview as a whole just caters to noobs.

I like the new pacing for GT packs and balance updates a lot. Really feels like they've got good intentions in terms of balancing the different matched play experiences with keeping things fresh for competitive. Nice interview Steve.

You heard it here first, Iron warriors are worth painting up for 10th! 😛

But seriously, I enjoyed this vid, nice you all being able to collaborate too and join in with the build up. Excited to play my Drukhari!

The question i really want answered is what is the benefit of the psyker keyword? How does it actually help you? So far all revealed interactions with it are negative. It is really hard to get excited about playing Grey Knights in an edition where your phase has been removed. Your attacks have been turned into weak shooting weapons and almost every army has some kind of hard counter, see todays Black Templar reveal! But the term doesnt actually help your army in any way.

So I just finished up watching the Stu Black interviews on Play On Tabletop, Tabletop Titans, Tabletop Tactics, Vanguard Tactics, and MWG Studios. I'm going to cross-post my responses. I got into 40k late 3rd edition and played through the end of 5th edition. I wanted a simpler game and 6th and 7th seemed to get more complex. I liked where they went with 8th and then 9th and though I only dabbled casually. Over the years I have invested in anywhere between 1000 and 5000 points worth of at least 12 different factions. So I'm anxious to dive back into 10th edition this summer and make it one my core games to play. That said, I have questions about what I've reading and hearing. "free rules and indexes at launch" This sounds great, I look forward to playing multiple factions in smaller games as we all learn 10th edition together. I like the concept of Combat Patrol, set faction-specific army lists that allows us to dabble in other factions and have "ready-to-go" forces for small pick-up games. What I don't think I like is the impression that "regular 40k" and "combat patrol" will have different Data Sheets for the same units. So game to game we have to remember that Unit XYZ has less/different abilities when playing Combat Patrol etc. I suppose that's less of an issue than dealing with how Unit XYZ plays in "regular 40k" vs "kill team" since the rules for each game are so different.

If I'm understanding the Detachment system correctly (and possibly envisioning what I hope it will be like)... I want to believe that the detachment system will work like some factions in 5th edition where your choice of Character/HQ unlocked other parts of the army. Like in the 2003 Codex Eye of Terror, Lost in the Damned list you could run a combined Chaos Space Marines, Traitor Guard and Chaos Daemon list. In my experience it was not overpowered. Depending on which HQ you took would decide which kinds of units counted as Troops vs Elites/Fast/Heavy. So you could build Chaos marines with a splash of traitor guard and chaos daemons etc. This is what I hope the new Detachment system to be like. Take a named/unnamed Terminator HQ Character and Terminators become 'battle line' units, Bike HQ Character makes Bikes 'battle line' units etc.

Now I need to get back to making my table, terrain and models are dusted off and ready for 10th edition to release so I can start making lists and rolling dice.

6:50 Talks about units and battlefield roles, like dreadnoughts. GW proceeds to Legacy all Contemptors lol

Was banishing whole arse units to legends not too long after releasing them as plastic kits part of their grand master plan for competitive???

I’m not even affected by these shifts but I know more than enough competitive minded folks who are suddenly having hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars of spending let alone painting time, go up in smoke.

Super excited for 10th Edition, stoked about the streamlining and excited for the future of the game, even more pleasantly surprised by the interaction with the community, but this was a very bitter pill to take with all the sugar.

Were you allowed to ask any questions you wanted or did GW vet the questions first?

Also if they vetted the questions, can you share any of the questions they did not answer?

This may not be the best video to ask this question but as someone who is actually extremely competitive and someone who i learned 40k from I'd like to ask Mr. Box this --

Is there any way we could request an actual competitive players overview from what we've seen of Deathguard? I am tired of the doom and gloom from the DG community who still are viewing the army in the lens of 9th, and not 10th. I know its difficult to see how things will play out with such barebones information revealed but i think its safe to say DG has had the most reveals now with the Kansas open. Personally. I think in the vacuum of 10th they are looking very solid and balanced. But i seem to be of a very small minority here. I also feel like the DG wouldve won quite soundly in the preview game if they werent still playing mortarian like he was in 9th and didnt get removed turn 2.

So does this mean, that we will get the first sample for free (The downloadable indexes) but
the next one will cost you? (Codex will be the prime way that people will get new data sheets and also new detachments)

Or simply put, you will still force us to pay for the rules!

Good questions but I wish someone would ask why codexes again, no-one wants them, the community had been saying it for ages, we are sick of them breaking the game every 2 months, leaving all the factions not with one in the dust forever. Why can't they purely do I indexes and monetise something else instead of physical books that always end up out of date come the first balance update

Do GW do events geared towards new players?

FxPs
Автор

The real question is... did GW pull the plug on the real 10th edition rules then expect the design team to rewrite them from the ground up with 4 weeks to go before printing?

Because:

• the game is broken and clearly not playtested. How did anyone think Eldar CHOOSING THEIR DICE RESULTS wouldn't be broken.

• The points are a joke and kill variant unit builds.

• the Forgeworld legends thing is terrible business practice and clearly the community wasn't consulted judging by the back lash.

Seems rushed to me.
