Everyone who mentioned the small piece of metal with the you, I thought of everything that could have been wrong with my Mavic except that. Didn’t even cross my mind as a possible issue. Thank you for posting this video and to all who commented, saved me a ton of money and trying to find an excuse to tell my wife on why I need to spend so much at a repair shop. I was estimated $275, when all it took was a paper clip I found in the junk drawer.

Good night friends.

I did what Hector Aguilera said and it worked: The plate with holes behind the gimbal was kneaded. I pulled it with a hook and my cooler came back working.

Hope it helps more people.

I had my first crash today after 2 yrs of flying. It was a very low level high speed sweep, an unexpected mound of grass popped up and hit head on-on the gimbal. Nothing broke and everything was fine. After I got home and cleaned it up and started it again I noticed the mavic was as hot as 167F... AFter investigating I noticed the fan grille was pressed against the fan and kept it from spinning.
I straightened that out and every thing was back to normal again.

Hi. I had the same problem. The fan did not work. In my case was because somehow the gimbal moved from its place the blade that is just behind him, so that the fan was obstructed with that metal plate with holes. What I did was simply with a clip fold it in the shape of a hook and return it to its original position and problem solved

I just ran into this same problem. I took it out for a flight today. No problems. Sat down with a fresh battery to update. It cancelled at about 40% like other people are saying that had update issues. That's when the fan stopped kicking in. Is there a connection between the failed update and the fan not turning on anymore?

After replacing damaged gimbal, fan did not work. after reading comments on this site, I looked at fan area and I saw imprint of damaged gimbal in plastic frame on a front of fan area,
sure enough metal plate by the fan was pushed in into the fan, stopping it from spinning.
I reached out with the hooked sharp tool, grabbed metal frame by perforated holes, and pushed metal plate out, away from the fan. fan started to work.

Received mine yesterday. Noticed massive fan noise during firmware update, but didn't think anything of it. Today, the fan does not start, and the drone shuts down after a few minutes with a board overheat error in the app.

I too think this may be update related. I did the update from the app, and the update completed on the RC, but stayed at 0 percent on the drone. I restarted the app, rebooted the drone and RC, and the app reported that the versions are up to date on both. During the update the fan was loud, but I just figured the processor was working on it. After the update, the fan no longer starts.

What makes it worse is I can't downgrade as it overheats and powers off during the process now.

I disassembled plates including plate with fan and mainboard. Everything looks to be fine and not bended. I cleaned and wiped. Fan still doesn’t work when I assemble the drone. Do we have somewhere video how to replace fan?

I believe so because it didn't start happening to me until I tried updating it. I sent mine into DJI approximately 3 days after making this video... they sent me a brand new Mavic! And I received it yesterday... I'm going to test it out this morning and see if it compares to my previous Mavic... which before the fan quit working, was a really great quad!!

Same problem here. Any solutions? I tested my fan and it worked.

i was worried about this heat issue causing the fan's to work hard during the update, especially since the progress bar was moving at a slow crawl. i just set an ice pack under the mavic without touching it during the firmware update.

I have the same problem after replacing my defect upper mainboard and updating the firmware to the most recent 1.04.0100. Fan is not running after starting the Mavic. Otherwise everything works fine and the Mav is flying without any other problems. The fan is running freely if I put individual power on it (after opening the shell). So I acctually think it is a firmware problem as mentioned by others. Downgrading from 1.04.0100 is not possible by now. What can I do else?

I just got my Mavic Pro yesterday. I had to update the firmware when I turned it on for the first time and I noticed the fan came on almost right away and stayed on for the entire firmware update. after the update was done I turned the Mavic off. A few hours later I turned it back on and started to go through some of the DJI Go 4 app setting and the fan kicked on only a few minutes of the power being turned on. Do you know if this is normal?
