I have lived in Costa Rica for 14 years, and am a permanent resident. I am considering relocating to Panama. Lower cost of living, lower inflation, better infrastructure, less bureaucracy, senior discounts and duty free imports.

Costa Rica has around 600 beaches. Many of them have white sand like playa Quesera, playa calzón de pobre or isla Tortuga. All of the beaches are free and public, except for the ones that are inside national parks. Monteverde is very mountainous and famous for the rain forest. You have a lovely mountainous area in San Gerardo de Dota where you can also watch the Quetzals. You also have Cerro Chirripó which is the highest mountain in Costa Rica, among many other mountainous areas.

Great video. I've also been to both countries. I only visited Costa Rica for a month and had a great time in Guanacaste and Tamarindo. But I lived in Panama for six months, a long time ago during Noriega. I loved the weather, the food. I believe that Panama has a really great Pensionado program that gives retirees good discounts on living expenses. Your video helped clarify some things for me.

Great video and I think your analysis is spot on…I have been to both countries in several of the cities u mentioned….stayed in Boquette for a month and the weather was very spring like…took a nice modern double decker bus ride from Boquette to Panama City which was about five hours… unfortunately in those countries the sanitation facilities are lacking …road side trash along the ditches was present in Panama for miles and miles…the beaches in Costa Rica had trash and diapers and nobody picks up the stuff which is such a shame because the areas are beautiful otherwise….

I had an abysmal experience of CR. Robbed, ripped off, no help whatsoever by local authorities, in your face locals, high prices for every thing.My wife nearly attacked by 2 youngsters.I ll never go back.
