good advice when using small tripods with heavier lenses: make sure the lens is above one of the tripod legs, then it can't tip over forward as easily.. :)

tip: mount the tripod in a way so that one leg is facing the direction of the lens that way the weight of the lens will fall there, therefore preventing it from tipping over forward

I still have my old Gorillapod hybrid but I rarely use it! I found it to be a pain to shape it the way I want. That PatekFly looks great and not pricey! i have the Pixi and love it!

You can try Marsace MT-01 as well, it is super strong. In my experience, its ball head can hold a C200 with 85 1.4 L

After years of solid use, my Gorillapod finally broke on me. I think i may try that weird Tim Burton style Tripod and see how it goes. Thanks for the information and recommendations.
