This melody is so simple, yet so deep and so profound. It is so catchy it makes you want to keep on singing it endlessly -- till Jesus comes to take us home so that the singing is carried along with us into Heaven, to be taken over by the Angelic choir!

The simplicity of the melody allows also for an endless addition of lyrics, all to the glory of Him the song is about. Hence, the many additional lyrics we see in this version.

But, though the melody is simple, the lyrics -- original and added -- have a profoundness that perfectly matches the theme of the song.

If there's a song I would like to hear sung in Heaven one day, it would be THIS one!

No wonder the Welsh version played a key role in the Welsh Revival!

The famous Welsh Revival hymn! Except I didn't realize that the music had been written by Robert Lowry.

It pains me to turn my attention from the marvelous lyrics of this ancient hymn, but in order to settle a debate here with my musical wife, I would like to know if there is a bass guitar in the background, or as I maintain, it is just very good piano playing. Can anyone address this question?
