We will calculate the air flow over a small sphere of diameter=10cm. Note: we have to first calculate the Reynold's number=?, prandtl number=?, nusselt number=?, then we can find the transmission coefficient, h=?, and finally we can find the heat flow, dQ/dt=?, across the sphere.

Does it matter if the sphere is transferring energy to the air, or the air to the sphere? Is there a difference between those two with respect to the calculation?

Udara pada tekanan 1 atm dan temperatur 300°C mengalir dengan kecepatan 10 m/s di sekeliling bola yang diameternya 0, 1 m. Hitunglah laju transfer panas konveksinya jika suhu permukaan bola dijaga pada 53, 4°C!


Langkah menyelesaikan soal di atas:
1. Hitung temperatur film (Tf)
2. Tentukan sifat fisik udara pada Tf
3. Hitung bilangan Reynolds
4. Hitung Nu menggunakan persamaan yang sesuai
5. Tentukan nilai h dari bilangan Nusselt yang diperoleh
6. Hitung laju transfer panas konveksi
