Why DODGE Was FORCED To Kill The Viper - Everything You NEED To Know

The Dodge Viper was the KING of Chrysler for 25 years. It was the underdog American exotic that no other car for the money could touch.
So what happened? What killed the Viper? Was it the side curtain airbag problem? Was it a cultural shift? Perhaps it was the executives and shareholders? - Maybe it was all of the above.

Or maybe it was the Demon.

I would take a viper over a challanger any day

The demon is cool in it's own right, but there's more to racing than just a straight line.

To me, the Viper was better all around as it was very well balanced. It had great performance, styling, and super stable on the road. It’s been so long since the Viper has been out of the game that if Dodge decides to bring it back, it’s gonna sell like hot cakes to all the nostalgic fans with deep wallets lol

Purchased my gen 3 Viper two years ago and have zero regrets. Going to get a different gen next and hopefully have all 5 gens before I retire 🐍

The Viper, like the Demon were never made to make money with their own sales, they were both halo cars and served their purposes to bring brand excitement. There are a lot of SXTs and RTs out there now as a result.

I feel like the Viper should return for one last run. I mean they are doing it with the Challenger and Charger I believe. That doesn’t mean I want a Viper EV 😂😂😂

What they need to do is push the viper and its engine to the extreme and do a demon version

Owned three (‘02, ‘06, & ‘10) Vipers! The ‘02 had a lot of annoyances! It got too hot, interior was hot & cramped, and it’s front lip spoiler was too low to the ground. The ‘06 & ‘10 were a huge improvement! I miss em! Bring it back, Stellantis!

I'd trade my challenger for a viper anyday. But tbh it would be nice to see the viper evolve into something like a rear mid engine platform. Maybe its time to revisit the ME Four-Twelve and start from there

When it comes to dream cars the Viper is at the top of my personal list on the American manufacturer side. I had all of the model cars back in the early and mid nineties, and in “Road and Tracks Need for Speed” (that’s right, it all started as a Road and Track game) i always raced the Viper. In part 2 i usually ran the McClaren F1. Are there other folks out there that remember those games on the PC, PlayStation and 3DO?

The Viper, and to a lesser degree, the Trans Am WS6 would be amazing cars in the current era. Will buy either if I had the money and opportunity.

Idk why every car channel on YouTube is making a Viper video at the same time, but I'm all for it.

Viper was a beast to tame.

New cars are technologically tamed.

Ford GT is the only car I have desired more.

1st time I had ever heard of a 10 cylinder engine (besides 1 or 2 Audi I believe). Though 12 cylinders were normal and eventually the W16. No one ever seemed to catch on to it.

not only was the viper one of the best track cars ever made, one of the best looking cars ever made, but its motor was making hellcat power NA! if you wanted the fastest possible car you get a viper, build it, and boost it cuz that 8.4l could handle like 1500 hp no problem. thats one of the saddest things about it going, you cannot get the amazing 8.4l anymore and that motor could handle so much power while having a flat power curve because of its 2 valve per cylinder.

Another reason for the Viper's demise was the price of the 5th gen. in comparison to earlier Vipers. It jumped $40k-$50k over the 4th gen. What people didn't realize was how much better the 5th gen. Viper is. It is a spectacular car where the ealier generations were uncomfortable and harder to drive. The build quality is better too. It was probably the best value performance car even at the original MSRP. Current prices are finally showing that people have finally realized what the 5th gen. Viper is.

No I am not happy that that automotive company did what they did. I wish they could have fixed everything and couldn't kept the Viper going around for years after years after years I couldn't kept pushing it forward to. See the envelope of what they could have done with the Viper. That is one of my all time favorite cars that I would love to own and always. I'm gonna search to try to find one

I wish they gave the Viper a proper send off, and gave it the "Hellcat treatment", adding a couple of turbos and a supercharger. They easily could have sold a 1000hp Final Edition.
