My right eye started twitching when the word “alocasia” was uttered. I will never buy that plant again.

Lawd Jeezus!! I just got an alocasia and I look at her everyday in my courtyard and say “girl don’t you dare frown at me.”

Expose them for what they really are: Overrated, not sustainable to grow in your home, not practical, not functional 😂 I immediately subscribed to your channel after hearing that 😆

I refuse to purchase another calathea unless I’m gifting it to someone I don’t like. They are way too fussy for a plant that refuses to die. I have 3.5 and don’t plan to add anymore. The .5 is for the one that I’ve left to die but refuses to..

The accuracy and comedy is hilarious 🤣

Alocasias are another plant that will only thrive in the tropics. My grandmother lives in Puerto Rico 🇵🇷and she doesn’t even keep them indoors! She grows stunning alocasia in the ground on the shady side of her house and lets Mother Nature do the all the work!

Wish I would have subscribed to you before I became a Plant Lover. Would have saved me time, money and heartache.
Most importantly would have taught me not to get a plant just so I can be on the Plant Lovers bandwagon. That wagon has ran me over numerous times.

The notepad of doom😂 (yet so satisfying that I'm not the only one struggling with at least 5 plants on this list) haha!

I’ve killed so many calatheas! I figured out they r just bougie. The 3 I have left have their own humidifier and grow light and no more crispy tips.

Hello, Oh, No!! 😮 not my precious Hoyas. I have (22) Hoyas & every one is exploding with growth. I absolutely love them. But I understand with your climate it might be difficult.I'm on my 3rd Mican & this one looks like its going to survive. The others you shown I have no interest either lol. Thank You very enjoyable

Oh yes to your choices…for me, no to: ivy, African violets, begonias, palms, pepperomias, string of anything, gardenia, croton, orchids…but <sigh> I keep trying them. Last one was a beautiful pink flowered black ruffled leaf African violet. But I did so enjoy it until it was down to 1 leaf ( now).I do have 3 Hoyas ( from watching Basie Plants) that are doing well-H. carnosa, curtisii, and ‘Crimson Princess’. Enjoyed this video, thank you! 🪴

I would put ferns on this list because if I whisper too loudly about how the one rabbit foot I have is still alive, she’ll shrivel up from spite 😆

Also, if you can, get an in-line water filter. I swear all of my fussy plants quit acting up when I got one. It’s under my kitchen sink and makes everything so much easier. No more crispy tips from tap water, because the tap is filtered already. 🎉

Your perspective from a different part of the globe is so different and fascinating. Good luck!

It’s crazy how different plants can grow so differently in different environments bc my micans in an 8 inch hanging pot. Big thick and lush! I’ve had it for 4 years now grown from 4 cuttings I got in a mystery box. I have them growing all over my apartment in NYC climbing the walls. They don’t like bright light and they don’t like to dry out.

I feel like half of velvet-leaved philodendrons are the easiest, and the other half are the hardest. But, you never know which ones are actually going to like your home conditions 😂

I agree with much of what you said here. Especially about Hoya, Gloriosum and others. With Alocasia, I have the Pink Dragon and the Dragon Scale. These are very persnickity plants. I had the Black Velvet, 2 actually, they both died. With the DS and the PD, neither one likes their leaves touching ANYTHING! Not touching a light cord hanging behinds them, the leaves of their neighboring plants OR the pots of their neighboring plants or even their own! The will get ugly spots from touching anything!!! But having said that, just because it has died back does not mean it is dead. The PD came back after I thought it was gone and now it has many leaves and even a few pups. Sometimes it's finding that sweet spot for a plant. Other times it's not worth the aggravation. But I highly recommend getting a moisture meter!! That will ease alot of the stress you are feeling about some of these plants, and you could maybe enjoy more of them. But on the other hand, you have over 500 plants, just get rid of the ones that don't want to be a team player. I LOVE Calatheas!! Put them in a self watering pot!! I started buying indoor grow lights just for my Calatheas! But a self watering pot is a fill it and forget it vessel. They are the one plant I will go the extra mile for.
