As an European, I find the degree to which so many American Christians (particularly evangelicals) conflate ‘being Christian’ with all other aspects of their worldview quite simply staggering.

Sure. Over here, we see a bit of that with every religion to some extent; but these American Christians take this to a whole new level.

Where everything from ‘patriotism’ to ‘owning guns’ and ‘being anti-(trans)people’ somehow become cornerstones of the Christian experience.

"Biden declared"... no. He didn't. The calendar did a funny. Easter technically landed on Trans Visibility Day. So unless Biden can control the calendar... I don't think it's his issue. In fact he made sure to include both religious people celebrating Easter and trans-people. I think that's great.

The Donald said "I am Presbyterian Protestant. I go to Marble Collegiate Church ... as often as I can, a lot."
Two problems with Trump's declaration. First, Marble Collegiate, on New York's 5th Avenue, is a Reformed, not Presbyterian, church. And second, though the Trump family does have a history of attending Marble, officials there quickly sent out a statement saying Trump "is not an active member."

i love how it would have been 99% easter and 1% trans visibility in terms of attention and discussion, but throwing a fit about it made the two equal. like, if you just bit your tongue about a short mention of trans people then you could have had your christian day. maybe the problem isn't that trans visibility day is march 31st but rather that in order to not ever risk overlapping a holiday with easter, you couldn't have any holidays between mid march and mid april.
