1985 BMW E28 520i on the Autobahn - top speed

We take our 1985 BMW 520i for a ride on the Autobahn after ensuring it's properly warmed up and ready to go. We reach top speed after starting maximum acceleration going slightly uphill and with some crosswinds. The speedometer is slightly optimistic and shows real speed + 10-20 km/h. It also gets haunted by the ghost of electronics from time to time. The fuel in the tank is (mostly) Aral Ultimate 102.

Eine Fahrt auf der Autobahn mit einem 85'er BMW E28 520i mit M20B20 125 PS Reihensechser Triebwerk. Volgas beschleunigung und höchstgeschwindigkeit bei etwas gegenwind und anfänglich mit eine leichte Steigerung. Der über optimistische Tacho spinnt ein wenig und zeigt 10 bis 20 Kilometer pro Stunde zuviel. Gefahren wird mit (vorallem) Aral Ultimate 102 im Tank.

I’ve had six cylinder E30s and E34s in the past. I miss the sound of those excellent engines! I currently have a F30 320D with an 8 speed automatic gearbox.

Lovely E28, I once owned for a short time a 525i M30 based, I loved it but had to sell it, owned 2 E30s (320i post LCI and 316iA post LCI, both 2 door), E34 525i M50 post facelift, E39 528i pre, and now a E60 530i SPO. I love 5 series. Watch that temp gauge.

I also have an old BMW... That i love.
Bmw 2002 with Webers and it It GOES very very fast to 190 kph... Really fast.... I have a e21 5 speed overdrive in ir.. but the fifht gear is very very long... So it only goes to 200 kph... It should be a litle shorter and i bet it would be more

I have a BMW E12 that uses the same engine as the car in the video. The engine sound is very similar.
Achieve top speed without straining your hands, BMW and Autobahn are awesome.
It appears to have a higher top speed than the factory claims of 180 km/hr.
Unfortunately there were problems with the speedometer and cannot see the top speed number on the GPS(5.15).
3.25 - 4.20 That group of motorcycles were definitely riding faster than 200 km/hr.(Just 160 km/hr. is scary.)
The radio is probably original from the factory.

yes, that´s it. I had the 129 hp 1987. And it was just great. What have we all got through ! There were not many cars which where able to match with this speed by then. Well, well long time gone. And finally it ended up in an accident. I was destroyed. My phantastic Lady was not any more.

However, I have ordered the very next day after a E 34 with 150 hp. And this one I still have today. Besides a F 10 with 306 hp.
