I would argue the F15 is still the best (non stealth) fighter. The F22 i see as trying to make an F15 stealthy, due to the focus on stealth, designs changed around that focus (wing shape, motor placement, where its rockets are held, all that was centered around stealth). I dont think one can compare non stealth aircraft with stealth aircraft because they are both purpose build machines with different focuses. Im not knowledgeable enough to compare stat for stat between the two but everyone loves the F15 because it was the end result of the pre stealth design philosophy.

Think of these aircraft like boxers. The F-15 (104-0) would be like Mike Tyson's undisputed dominance in his prime. The F-22 (killed a balloon) displays extraordinary potential, but hasn't had an opportunity to prove itself and establish demonstrable dominance in a proper theater of war. Yet.

Being stationed at Bitburg AB in West Germany in the late 80’s. Our entire mission was keeping the F-15 eagles in the sky. The best 2 1/2 years I spent in my 5 year enlistment time in the USAF. The entire base would shake when these jets would take off on full afterburner. Simply incredible jets of all time.

the f22 is a ninja who will kill you before you know its there whereas the f15 is a MMA fighter who will walk straight up to you and slug it out, if a enemy fighter manages to find(or even worse ENGAGE) a f22 something has more than likely gone very wrong.

There is no doubt that the F-22 is better than the F-15 since it was originally designed to replace it and has stealth capabilities and supercruise that the F-15 does not have. When people consider the F-15 to be the greatest fighter jet of all time, they are mostly taking creative liberties, such that they are weighing how it matched up to other fighter jets of its era, its combat record, and its continued viability as an asset in air space where stealth isn't a must to survive. Unless the US ends up mixing it up with the likes of China, the F-22 will likely never have the chance to prove itself (combat-record-wise) because it was produced in a much smaller number, wasn't allowed (by law) to be sold to foreign countries (like Israel) that might be more prone to get into near-peer air battles, and has been operated by the US Air Force in a time period where US conflicts were in locations where the US didn't have to worry about clearing the airspace by downing combatant fighters.

thef-22 is clearly better its got stealth and maneuverability but at the time and what it was built for there was no better fighter the f-22 is better at everything but the f-22 is also way newer so comparing is dumb obviously the f-22 is better for modern warfare where u need to be stealthy to engage enimies at longer range but if ur not worried about stealth the f-15 could easily compete in a dogfight considering it was specifically built for that reason but we're getting rid of the f-22s for something newer dont know what it is yet but they have to replace their top jet with something cuz a f-35 which is also 5th gen cant dogfight like a f-22 its more of a quarterback for other aircraft to help their affectiveness and attack ground targets or long range aircraft with dogfighting a last resort

F22 is better but has not seen battle so the F15 is better because it has seen battle 104 times and never lost.

i wanna know who cares whats better theyre both american aircraft at the end of the day a modern fighter even foreign ones can defeat a f-15 so obviously f-15 is not at the same level due to non stealth but wars arent gonna be fought like that modern wars would use numbers to overwhelm enimies defenses and fighters would be used mostly to eliminate ground defenses then if it does become a dogfight we have a overwhelming edge along with our allies plus the f-35s advantage is how many there are so even if its less effective than f-22 its gonna work like world wars of past where numbers and ease of manufacturing outweigh an elite group of few fighters f-22 hasnt even been used against peer aircraft besides detecting enemy fighters its never actually attacked anything cuz theyre too valuable but it has proven it can track enemy without being found itself and has even flown directly behind enemy fighters without them knowing but in real life comabat they should never get close enough to dogfight if they do somethings gone wrong and the f-22 should have the advantage but if a world war breaks out against china or russia they do have aircraft very few but still aircraft we have to atleast respect cuz u never underestimate ur enemy and while we know their older pre 5th gen aircraft are nowhere near american aircraft the 5th gen is a mystery since they have never been used unless theyre in israel attacking much weaker middle east targets with the f-35 the f-22 isnt even being sold to allies thats how good it is so we dont know china russia or our own true potential cuz its only been tested vs other american fighters and simulators

The F-22 is far --- FAR more advanced and deadly than the F-15. The new F-15EX is still not able to match the F-22. The F-22 would kill an F-15 before the F-15 even knew it was being fired on. Anyone who says the F-15 is better than the F-22 is an idiot and they have no idea what they are talking about. We've done extensive comparisons for many years un training. The F-15 is putted against an F-22 in wargames and training, and the F-15 gets smoked nearly all the time. It's not even close.
