Canadian born and raised. I hate this government. Every level of government has failed us and they are doing it purposely for their own gain.

A perfect storm is brewing in the United States. Inflation, bank collapse, severe drought in the agricultural belt, recession, food shortages, diesel fuel and heating oil shortages, baby formula shortages, available automobile shortages and prices, the price of living place. It's all coming together and it could lead to a real disaster towards the end of this year (or sooner). With inflation currently at about 6%, my primary concern is how to maximize my savings/retirement fund of about $300k which has been sitting duck since forever with zero to no gains.

Canadas economy is 80% government jobs and real estate transactions, giving Canadian homes to foreigners as quickly as possible

That’s not a fertility chart it is an affordability of children chart. The irony is once people are here from other countries they cannot afford kids either.

Something I don't think is talked about enough is that a majority of MPs have a large portion of their net worth tied up in real estate so they have a financial incentive to keep cost of living high. Also 54% of conservative MPs, 36% of Liberal MPs, and 16% of NDP MPs are landlords! How can we trust these politicians to tackle the cost of living crisis when they themselves benefit from it?!

Finally, this conversation is mainstream. 15 years too late.

This country was gutted and sold overseas.

Every crash/collapse brings with it an equivalent market chance if you are early informed and equipped, I've seen folks amass up to $1m amid economy crisis, and even pull it off easily in favorable conditions. Unequivocally, the collapse is getting somebody somewhere rich

"there's a labour shortage in our country"
What a crock. In every other industry, when demand is greater than the supply, the price of the goods goes up. Only the market is rigged when it comes to labour.

Seeing Poilievre pander to the Sikh community & condemn the deportations is disappointing.

Today, I went to the beach, in my small hick town. I could have sworn that I was in the middle east, India, and most of Asia, all at once. I've never felt so out of place, in the town I grew up.

When you accept that every major politician and political party hates you. A lot of the stuff starts to make a lot more sense.

We don't live in a democracy but rather a corporatocracy.

I am a 66 year pensioner who works part time to make ends meet. My daughter well educated with a good profession will never be able to purchase a home. Our government has failed us and l am disappointed in Pierre Poilievre not recognizing the problem with mass immigration and foreign students. We need a moratorium in immigration for a minimum of 5 years.

This is like an inverse Hanlon's Razor, "Never attribute to stupidity that which is adequately explained by malice."

My Husband and I were just talking about this tonight. It seems like they want you to work so they can tax your income but they don't want your wage to increase. And they want you to live in an apartment with no hope of buying a house. And they make it really difficult to get a passport and leave the country. When you're ready to leave, you're ready to leave. It will take some determination, but at this point, nothing should stop you.

It's so refreshing to see a nuanced take on these topics. No biased liberal or conservative propaganda - just rational arguments and level-headed discussion. Thank you for this! you got a new sub

In the 1950s a single income earner could support a family, own a single detached home, 2 vehicles, and afford a vacation or 2 per year. Today, 2 income earners working together can't do that.
What happened?
In the 1950s, communism was a real threat. There were labor movements and political parties people could vote for that would take the nation communist. This scared the elite. So they propped up wages. Even as women entered the workforce, doubling the labor pool, wages were propped up. It wasn't until the 1970s and early 80s that the communist threat was put to rest, the unions were busted, the communist parties were fringe groups, and the elite felt safe enough to begin clawing back wealth out of the middle class.
And today, with globalization, we compete with billions of other laborers and the elite have total control over the wage situation. The median Canadian income is 43k/yr. Half of Canada makes less than that. For this group, groceries and rent is 70%+ of their income. The same statistics found in 3rd world countries, where food and shelter are 70% of their total income also.

But explain this...Why are all immigrants coming from the same places ?
Where's that Multicultural pride Canada boasted about for decades ?
You could go into a mall then and experience a truly Multicultural balance.
Now, it seems that the most popular spice is curry and the most popular
meat is halal...That's not Multicultural !
