Οι Eivala είναι ένα σύγχρονο μουσικό συγκρότημα με ρεπερτόριο ως επί το πλείστον εμπνευσμένο από τη Σμύρνη & τη Μικρά Ασία του 19ου-20ου αιώνα. Γνωστά και άγνωστα τραγούδια, κρυμμένες ιστορίες για έρωτες, καημούς, μεράκια, για τη ζωή και τον θάνατο. Οι Eivala ζωντανεύουν ιστορίες εκείνης της εποχής, και επαναδιαπραγματεύονται τις ανθρώπινες σχέσεις με όχημα τη μουσική, με τον δικό τους ιδιαίτερο χρώμα.

Eivala are a new music ensemble whose repertoire is mainly inspired from 19th-290th century Smyrna. They interpret well-known and lesser-known songs, which tell tales of love, loss, grief, passion, life, death and uprooting.
Eivala bring these tales to life through music. They reminisce on a time when people and cultures coexisted in peace and harmony and renegotiate human relationships through their music and their own special way of narration and storytelling.
Through contemporary and innovative musical approaches, Eivala tell the stories that are hidden behind the songs of Smyrna, Asia Minor, Greece, Turkey and the greater Middle East.
They offer a musical review, of a different, unseen side of history, people, relationships, life, and coexistence.
With respect towards tradition, with music as their vehicle and with their unique narrative, Eivala seek to highlight the richness of the musical tradition of Smyrna and Asia Minor and to take the listener on a nostalgic journey through the past.

The word “eivala” is probably of Arabic origin, stemming from eyvallah which can be freely translated as “farewell” or from ivi-allah which means “well my god”. It passed into the Turkish language and was naturally used by the Greeks of Smyrna and Asia Minor. It is an expressive word which denotes that the person using it is having a good time or is happy and thankful about something.
