Campus Masterclass to improve your climbing power

I recently met with Stian and Martin, two incredibly knowledgable climbing coaches from Norway, and co-authors of the Climbing Bible, to bring you a series of climbing coaching masterclasses for climbing technique.

In this video, Martin was kind enough to run me through a workshop in an exercise I don’t often focus on - campusing for climbing! It’s perhaps fair to say that campus training is a little misunderstood as the preserve of only very strong climbers but campus training is very effective in training both power and control and can be a really fun way to improve your power and strenght on the wall if done correctly.

Is it Will Bosi’s goal to be in every single climbing video on YouTube in 2023 ? (spotted at 5:21)

I really like your educational content with all these different coaches! Your structure and your questions are great and cover all important stuff (When, where how etc...) I think i watch your content since the technique training with Be and i am really exited if i see you released another educational video. :)

Yup, your sessions with coachs and pros are always easy to engage with, thanks for putting this together.

I love how at 5:18 Will Bosi just wanders aimlessly into the background :D

One other aspect of campusing that often gets ignored is that it really trains hand accuracy. If you’re campusing to a really dicey hold, you have to absolutely nail the hand placement. Useful when normal climbing to waste less energy in repositioning hands.

Hannah is so humble, she always calls herself an amateur even though I would consider her a professional climber or AT LEAST a high level intermediate climber.

I realized that the thingy of twisting your lower body to prevent excessive swing (what Stian showed) was something I intuitively did. If you got really big campus moves in the roof I sometimes tend to meat hook myself (you get a better and more stable/controlled reach too). 🧚‍♀

Ooo I'm so excited for this! I've been thinking about taking up more training on the side, and campusing has always scared me so this video came at the perfect time! Also the climbing bible is simply amazing 🥰

I would LOVE to get a better picture on your training throughout the week!! Do you train everyday? What other activities to you partake in other then climbing but you find helpful for climbing as well? And also maybe your diet?

It might be to much to share online but honestly i would love to know ❤️

Really interesting video. I started bouldering 6 months ago and campus some weeks ago. This is the first tutorial I found about campus problems. Thank you! I always train on a step overhang spraywall and I think is the best place to train campus too.

At 45 just starting climbing this is very good advise.

First time commenting on your channel Hannah, I've been watching quite a lot of other educational climbing channels but your format with coaches and the way you approach this type of videos is very unique. I always learn something new in your episodes even if I've climbed quite a lot already.
So well done really! The only downside I could see is the audio quality. It's sometimes hard to understand everything ( maybe more since I'm not a native English speaker ) and I think you could gain a bit qualitywise if you work on it.

Great, great channel anyway! 👌
