I agree this is a no brainer for you tube. I have the track E(recorder) and a sync E set on the way. The more steps I can eliminate from making a video the better for me. Good video and cheers.

So do I get this or the recently announced 32-bit float featuring Zoom F2... Decisions... And I need 5x of them!

It is possible to clip. Been there, done that - just like any piece of gear, one needs to know the limits, although, the bandwidth is amazing.

Agreed, I picked this over the Zoom F2. I think this space in the market needs to really be considered more seriously… here’s what I mean… the F2 lav is pure garbage. The Bluetooth app is limited, but designed more for the F6 or F8. For $199 the F2 definitely needs a new lav so let’s factor in $90 to $130 for a quality mic, then Timecode on the F2 requires another piece of equipment.

I do own the Rode Wireless Go II so here’s where I landed.
I ended up with the Zoom F6 using its timecode sync. I send the Rode Wireless Go II from 3.5mm to XLR of the F6 to gain its Timecode Sync on my Rode Dual Audio.

I bought 2 Tentacle Track E and 2 Sync E for my 2 Cameras.
The 2 Track E will go on my primary talent, IE a Groom and Officiant with 32 bit I get the Bride in the crossfire and have control over her levels, also can start/stop and monitor their audio in real-time with 32 Bit Float and time sync with my Cameras all throughout the day with one click sync in my NLE…. (one of the Wireless Go s goes in the pocket of the Groom to cover a freak of nature accident) and the 2nd Go placed somewhere in the room for ambiance or BTS.)

This is one of those, how in the world can you talk yourself out of the benefits.

So “yes” I agree, there is a slight larger entry cost but it’s better than having to upgrade your gear and pay more in difference in the long run.

Timecode is here, it’s efficient like Electric Vehicles… embrace it, it’s here to make your life easier.

One big project or personal project misfire that cost you hours to fix versus a one button sync whether you mic a camera or not is the way to go long term if you value your time.

I guarantee you will end up buying Sync E
Along with track E, it will make your life 100 time easy
If you use both, all your footage will be synchronized instantly.

Is the input, mic level or line level?

It’s great until the client’s jacket rustles - and since you’re not monitoring you won’t know about it. And there’s no fixing it in post.

Zoom F2 is built even cheaper than this one
