in the 4 seat trainet category the Beech Musketeer and Sundowner is often overlooked. 160 hp O320 and 180 hp O360. Very roomy and rock solid build quality. You can get a good one for 40000

the Cherokee is more a true 4 seater than a C-172 is, yet the Cherokee was actually the equivalent to the C-150

What's the issue with a pre 68 172? 0-300 is a good engine and is cheap to maintain.

I can't believe they are so expensive, at this point you might as well build your own for cheaper, this are very basic air craft most of them don't even have internal heating.
