Thank you all SO MUCH for helping out with this survey, it has been a blast! Genshin Lore is super complicated, but I'm glad to see that people are relatively invested in it. If you'd like to see more Genshin-themed surveys or just some for fun studies, subscribe!

It is also important to mention the skewness of this survey and the results, as you are running a lore channel and people following you are actually more interested in it than the average genshin player.

How check if Genshin player reads anything:
Ask what is demon name of Raiden Ei
Since so many people still call Ei Baal instead of Beelzebub

I love the lore, I read it only when I have time and energy to. Between collage and doing the daily bc I still want to get and build characters, I just don't have time for all of it, that's why I appreciate creators like Aster.

im also surprised at ppl not reading character stories and hearing their voicelines as much. That’s like the thing im really excited about when getting new characters lmao

I know that personally, I put neutral for the secondary sources trustworthiness due to the fact that they (at least the ones I watch) usually make it clear what is speculation, theory, or cannon information.

It's hilarious to hear "Genshin fans can't read" because there's an EXACTLY SAME joke about Persona fans. It just might be an universal thing to say that "X fans can't read"

I think most players read what their interested in, and dont pay attention to the rest. Most missunderstandings seem to stem from misinterpretations and consuming unreliable secondary sources. The dont read statement also fails to account for how much actual lore is in the game, which makes it easier to forget stuff.

It’s the Lore that keeps me playing; especially since we constantly have to rethink a lot of what we know

The thing about trustworthyness is that getting 50% right in a structured lore video is still 100% better than having absolutely no clue about what the game was trying to say through random books and scattered item descriptions.

I read lore, but more seriously only after Enkanomiya and Chasm was released. Their stories were rather grim and mysterious, so I get more interested to know what happened in between through items description and NPCs dialogue. The starting regions of course was interesting in its own right. But back then with so many random characters helping you throughout the archon quest, I had the expectation they will spoonfeed me the rest of the lore.
And my main reason watching lore videos? I have a hard time grasping texts written like academy papers or poems, so I need someone else to decipher the meaning.

A decent chunk of Genshin's lore is delivered in a similar manner to Dark Souls, and your survey reflects what the Dark Souls community tends to do. There is a subset of players who love to dig and piece the puzzle together, and many who are interested but are happy to let others do it for them. However, Genshin is on-going, with new information being added all the time, meaning the process of piecing the puzzle together and providing that information to the group who just wants to consume the final product is never-ending and can be arduous.

Personally, I think that part of the reason "Genshin players don't read" is a common sentiment is that folks who are happy to let others put the pieces together for them are less likely to attempt to retain the information themselves. The act of ruminating on the details and piecing them together also solidifies them in your mind. Someone who might watch a theory video every once in a while, might forget a bunch of details from quests they did a year ago, even if that was an Archon Quest.

That was interesting and fun analysis!!
But this 4k+ peoples are mostly your followers so wouldn't that also affect the survey? so maybe in future if you're doing similar analyses would it be possible to collab with different content creators you know to distribute the survey, that way it'll be more diverse sample space?

I never watch livestreams because i like to jump into a new patch as blind as i can, to me it's way more fun to explore a new region like that
And what i need to know (upcoming banners, primo codes, changes etc.), i will learn them from other sources

There are a lot of interesting topics I feel like people are misinformed on.

Arlecchino - How much she cares about the children of the house of hearth ( reading their character stories will show you she cares a lot)

Traveller - Them being a minor they have for the fact that they're older than they look but a lot of the other characters have asked them to go out for drinks.

Mona - the surprising amount of people think she's poor and don't know she gets a lot of money she just spends it really quickly.

There's a lot more but yeah have you eaten proper food

Seeing Aster do stats stuff after I finished a stats class last semester is kinda surreal lmao

This was great to hear about. I couldn't say it on the survey but my primary reason for watching lore videos is that I simply don't have enough free time to play and read everything. There's so much to look at, and it's so layered and constantly shifting.
