Conditionals

- what actually happens
- what could happen
- what we wish would happen
- what might have happened
Example.
If I got sick, I would go the doctor
[ 'IF ' clause ] & [ result clasue]

Types -
• zero conditional
IF + present simple, present simple
- habits / facts / truths
Eg. If you put ice in your drink it melts.

• first conditionals
IF + present simple, will + verb infin.
- possibilities
Eg. If it's hot tomorrow, I'll go for a swim at the beach.

• Second conditional
IF + past simple, would + verb infin.
- imaginary situation
Eg. If I had more money, I would buy a boat.

• third conditional
IF + past perfect, would have + past participle
- past unreal
- imaging a different past
Eg. If we had looked at the weather report, we would have stayed home!

1.If I eat a lot, my tummy gets bigger than usual days.

If I eat healthy food, I stay fit.
If we leave now, we will catch the bus on time.
If I finished work earlier, I would come with you to watch the match.
If I had studied harder, I would have passed the exam.

1. If I eat more fruits and vegetables, I feel healthier

2. If we leave now, we won't be late at least for half an hour

3. If I finished work earlier, I would probably meet my friends at our favorite cafe

4. If I had had more courage to stand for what was important for me back then, I would have been faster at achieving my goals now

It's great. i get a new knowledge with this video. When I was a student, I had never studied about zero conditional sentence, what I learned was about first conditional sentence, second and third.

Thank you Emma. That Is first time I have completely learned If Conditionals..

Zero conditional: If I eat too much, I go fat.
First conditional: If we leave now, we will go to the movie theater.
Second conditional: If I finished work earlier, I’d sleep quickly.
Third conditional: If I had known MMM English earlier, I would have saved my time.
