Chromaticism is a huge part of Jazz. In this video, I am going to take a look at some great examples of chromatic jazz licks or phrases from Charlie Parker, Pat Metheny, Doug Raney, Pat Martino, and George Benson. All the examples are great ideas when it comes to chromatic phrases and also quite different takes on how to work with it.

I am sure you can get some great ideas from this, I know that I did.

You are such a great teacher… I am mostly a blues, Rock and pop guy who likes most genres from jazz and jazz rock fusion, progressive rock, to world music to folk and country, show tunes, the jazz standards and American song book… I love Pat Metheny, Benson, Django, Wes, and you turned me on to Grant Green and so many other artists… I play guitar on a very basic level, but you help me appreciate music and all the Barry Harris insights are especially enlightening!

It's amazing how these players incorporate these chromatics so fluently. I can't wait to review this video in more detail. Once again a great approach and explanation on a difficult subject!

Doug Raney is a rare example of someone who came from the lineage of someone famous and is as good or almost as good as their parent.

If wanting to be in a romantic relationship with a chromatic line is wrong I don't want to be right! 😘😘😘
