Both sides needed more explaining. One sees it one way, the other another. Jesus is the ultimate truth, but that’s not all Proverbs 23:23 is saying. It teaches that wisdom and knowledge are valuable. If you seek God first, pray, and discern rightly, you’ll understand what is an asset and what is a liability. Even Solomon, with all his wisdom, prospered only by God’s hand. Luke 16:10-11 shows that wealth is dangerous in the wrong hands, but a righteous man uses it for God’s glory. Money itself is not evil. It is a tool. But if a man loves it, it will consume him. The parable of the talents proves this. Faithful stewardship is rewarded, while fear and waste are condemned. Paul warns that the love of money is the root of evil (1 Timothy 6:10), not money itself. The question isn’t whether a man has wealth, but how he holds it. Does he serve it, or does he use it to serve God? The righteous will give, not hoard. They will uplift, not trample. If wealth is held rightly, it glorifies the One who provides all things.
