As an African American who has struggled putting the pieces of my family back together from as far back as the 1700s, knowing the roadblocks and how the trail of paperwork to my 5th -8th generation back grandparents disappears into the ocean, this entire speech brought me to tears. I had to listen twice.

I can’t speak to the president directly, but if I could, I would thank him for trying to right a terrible wrong done to my ancestors. The pain won’t be erased, the anger may linger at the smallest memory, and the trust may not be 100% from some AA, but love conquers all and time proves a thing.

It is a great welcome. I have always planned to visit. It’s great to know the visit and acceptance is more than welcome. ❤️

I'm an African American of Nigerian parents. I'm so proud of how Ghana is representing and welcoming us back home! With respect, dignity and Knowledge of history. Same cant be said of Nigeria which is the total opposite of ghana, and quickly becoming a shame and menace of Africa. Nigerian President cant even spell African American let alone humble himself to respect Nigerians in diaspora. He thinks we r all thieves in America. Smh.
