Thank you for joining team “Buy Less”! I agree with most of this, but I have one big exception...I am fairly old (50) and I have tried a LOT of products trying to find my holy grails. It took me YEARS to find my perfect concealer, brow powder, and neutral lipstick. I am glad I bought back ups for all of them, because they’ve all been discontinued within the past year or two. I am partway through my backup stash for all of these and I am not relishing having to hunt for replacements. True, formulas improve, but I will probably waste a lot of money and time sorting through them to find reliable basics again. Thanks!

I’m a lipstick junkie, I cannot lie. I periodically go through the “smell test” and swatch with my hoard and toss the funky ones. I’ll always be a lipstick junkie though. If I wear no other products when I go out in public, I WILL wear sunscreen and lipstick. I got it from my mom, I guess. She rarely needed, or wore makeup, but she always wore her melon colored lipstick that was so pretty on her. She was a golfer and didn’t wear sunscreen, so she was always tanned except in winter. She’s been gone almost 38 years. I can still see that tube of Revlon lipstick, in my mind’s eye. Sure do miss her and her casual style 💜

I wish someone would do “trends that are sort of disturbing”. Like self-tanning. Step back and think about it. Really think. What’s wrong with being pale? Dark? Why are we trying to change ourselves instead of accepting who we are? Or over-filled lips so everyone looks like they’re having an allergic reaction. I love makeup as a creative outlet but this train of pretty radical changes really bothers me. What message does it send our kids? You’re not pretty unless tan? Or I’m “prettier” when tan? I don’t think so. (And don’t get me started on the hypocrisy of “I eat “clean” but slather brown tanners all over my skin to absorb into my body or inject crap into my face)

All great points. I would add: Don't pay full price, except in rare circumstances. Be patient, shop smart by combining coupons, discounts, sales. Yes I have FOMO but I balance it with fear of missing a car payment.
