Avoid nail polish if you have this | dermatologist explains
Показать описание
This is meant for those with eyelid dryness or scaling. I am not saying everyone should avoid nail polish . I am wearing nail polish because I don’t have any issues with it.
Eyelid dermatitis caused by nail polish is often due to allergens in the polish that transfer from the nails to the eyelids through hand contact. Common allergens in nail polish that can lead to eyelid dermatitis include:
1. Tosylamide/Formaldehyde Resin: Used as a film-forming agent, this resin can cause allergic reactions.
2. Formaldehyde: Although less common in modern nail polishes, it can still be present and is a known allergen.
3. Toluene: A solvent that can cause irritation and allergic reactions.
4. Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP): A plasticizer that has been associated with contact dermatitis.
5. Methacrylates: Found in nail enhancements and artificial nails, methacrylates can be potent allergens.
6. Colorants and Dyes: Some dyes used in nail polishes can cause allergic reactions.
7. Fragrances: Added to some nail polishes, fragrances can be a source of contact dermatitis.
If you are someone who gets recurrent flaking and I bring on eyelids, then check your nail polish for these allergens.
