I believe an important part is missed here. In most individuals the body resting metabolic rate is continuously adjusting according to the energy intake. If energy intake is reduced, this not lead straight away to leanness but metabolic rate will go down, hence the difficulty to lose weight.

Great series of video, thank you! A quick question though: how can muscle mass effect resting metabolic rate, when it's exactly muscles that rest in this period? Or could you please just share a link to the research paper or any source on that?

Thanks. I think that was important for me to hear. I'm still young (27), and have a decent weight for my height (75kg/180cm). But since I don't do any exercise this creep might be an actual problem for me.
