How 5G Will Change Your Life

About a year ago, the talk of 5G kind of made me yawn. Nobody could really explain to me why I should care, or what difference it would really make. But now, as we start into 2020 and I’ve learned a little more about not just what 5G is but how much it has the potential to change … everything, I’m finally starting to freak out just a little bit about 5G. And my goal today is to help you start to freak out. In a good way!

“Switzerland, one of the world’s leaders in the rollout of 5G mobile technology, has placed an indefinite moratorium on the use of its new network because of health concerns, ” The Financial Times reports.

I actually think you missed the biggest impact that 5g (at least low band 5g) can have and that's home internet. Right now T-mobile is testing home internet with 4g but is saying that when they do a wider roll out it will be 5g. Right now with T-mobile's 5g they are reliably getting speeds of 300 down and faster which is significantly than even Verizon's 4g signals. If they can reliably get 300 down for home internet at a cheaper price than what cable companies are charging then what we pay for internet, no matter who we chose, goes down.

Also, I just want to point out the difference between what Verizon and AT&T is doing with 5g and what T-mobile is doing is that T-mobile is using a lower end 5g meaning you will never get the gigabit speeds but it's more realistic than Verizon and AT&T. At least for the next few years the only way you can get gigabit speeds with Verizon or AT&T is if you are standing directly in front of one of the nodes. There have been several videos on YouTube showing that if you're inside a building or around the corner you lose the 5g connection.

I think you may have missed one. If 5g is that fast, why do I need cable for internet?

I'll believe it when I see it. I still get drops from LTD to HTD or whatever the hell that is and can't do shit when that happens. I have AT&T, not boost Mobile and I have a Google pixel. Sound great if so this pans out.

Speeds will be dependent on package prices. So if you want the top speed you'll be paying top money. And speed will also be dependent upon how many are using the system at the same time. Wireless bandwidth is limited, so as more people and applications use it, speed will go down.

I just want good coverage. 300MB and up. I'm wondering what Starlink is gonna do in the future. Home, vehicle, RV or Tractor Trailer.

What I'd like to see would be a federated self-driving network where perhaps there is a data center staffed with remote car chauffeurs (e.g. car drone pilots) whose job would be augmented by self-driving software. This would still leave a "human" in charge of piloting your car, followed by auto pilot and finally an in-car pilot as a last resort. 5G would enable this nicely and this scheme might be more palatable than simply letting cars drive 100% on software.

I am not sure why he mentioned the iPhone when speaking on 3G. The original iPhone was only 2G, GPRS/EDGE, AT&T exclusive.

The iPhone literally had NOTHING to do with 3G. Android came in with the launch of the G1, which was 3G, UMTS.

People don't realize how far the iPhone is behind the launch of network technology. It's just a good branded device.

I want faster internet. I get 3.5 max MBs from a DSL modem AT&T. I was told it would be too expansive to send fiber down my street in a Mobil park and I’m in the middle of a downtown city. As of now I’m looking to the sky for the future (ELON)
