Lucian Sanmartean, the Genius of Bistrita

In a school playground of the Romanian town Bistrita, a 6 years old kid dribbles all what he faces with the ball stuck to his feet. His teacher is so impressed that he calls a football coach of the local team Gloria Bistrita in order to watch the kid. That's how Lucian Sanmartean joined Gloria's youth academy. That's how his story started...

He is one of the most gifted players I have ever seen. When he played in Panathinaikos we couldn't explain how he could "glue" the ball to his boot like he did. You simply couldn't steal the ball from him. I still remember how I nearly broke my leg in the celebrations when he scored against Panionios :-)
He was really gifted! If he trained as 50% as hard as Ronaldo than he would have been legend for all, not "only" for the ones that saw him.
But Loutsi will for sure have some real football fans who will shake his hand if they see him on the street.
He had unique dribbling skills, it was not just run fast and so on but with great fantasy in the dribbling.

Ma simt atat de norocos ca am autograful lui. Cand il vedeam jucand, aveam convingerea ca daca ar fi fost in lot la Real sau Barca, fara probleme se integra, fara sa se vada vreo diferenta de valoare intre el si ceilalti. Echipele uriase din Europa nu au multi jucatori cu geniul pe care Sanmartean il reprezinta. Nu degeaba a tinut Porumboiu atat de mult la el!

Probabil singurul jucator de la genratia de aur incoace care ar fi putut sa calce pe urmele regelui. talent pur. mare pacat ca nu a fost bagat in seama, dar ce sa faci...daca nu esti din buCUResti si nu joci la steaua sau dinamo, impresariat de ciobani, nimeni nu da doi lei pe tine. ani lq randul ni s-au bagat pe gat toti "talentatii" in timp ce talente ca Sanmartean se rodau pe terenuri de doi lei. pacat, mare jucator. felicitari pentru videoclip, eram sceptic la inceput, dar da...de acord cu atributul ales, un geniu subapreciat.

After Hagi retired he was our most talented player. Too bad he had injuries. I can't understand why he missed so much time from our national team. What a great character he is besides being one of the best dribbler in our history.
