There has been widespread criticism of how the African National Congress appears to be struggling to implement its own resolution on the stepping aside of members and leaders that have been charged with various acts of wrongdoing. This follows - among others - the recent conviction of ANC Women's league President, Bathabile Dlamini as well as the recent election of Mandla Msibi to the Mpumalanga ANC provincial executive. While Msibi has since been asked to step-aside, it remains unclear what Bathabile Dlamini's fate will be. In another development, former eThekwini Mayor, Zandile Gumede has also been nominated for a leadership role in the Party's regional structures, despite facing corruption charges. Political commentator, Oliver Dickson joins us now, to share his perspective on the issue

It is actually shocking the sense of entitlement amongst leaders.
A criminal judgement has been made. How clear is that for us.
No respect at all as it’s totally unwarranted.

Some communities view severe breaches in integrity, ethics, and morals as major transgressions, and the perpetrators are ring-fenced as untrustworthy and unfit to hold public positions of trust going forward. These perps are treated as pariahs and liabilities to the general society. On the other hand, some communities are patently unashamed and unconcerned about recycling and reinstating convicted thugs and thieves in public affairs. We have a very serious contrast in cultural, ethical, and moral norms among certain communities in this country.

They fail because somehow this rule exclude Ramaphosa & we are made to believe Ramaphosa is holier & yet they are all the same

How is this going to work when it takes a truly moral person to push this rule, and we all know there's hardly one moral person left in government,
