Beatrice Chebet wins gold in women's world cross-country championships

Beatrice Chebet won the women's title in the world cross country when it looked like Ethiopia’s Gidey had snatched it. Chebet clocked 33:48 to bring the title home. In the men's u20, Kenya’s Ishmael Kipkirui won the title clocking 24:49 and becomes the first Kenyan to do so since 2011 when Geoffrey Kamworor won in Punta Umbria clocking 24:31.

Gidey got severe diarrhea after seeing Chebet overtook her.

Sad to watch. I was there, and couldn't believe it when she hit the deck. She was already in trouble when going down the hill, then when she tried to re-accelerate when Chebet went by her legs had nothing left. Very sad.
