I'm pretty certain most german generals knew that they had more or less lost in 1943

Hitler wanted a negotiated peace.
The same could be said for Japan, except they wanted it early in the war with the U.S. They thought the Americans had no stomach to fight.

I saw an interview once with a German infantry soldier and they asked him this very question. His response was “ Dec 11 1941, they day Hitler declared war on the Americans.”

1942-1943 when the Allies started to build more equipment than the axis could destroy and all hope of actually having the resources and industry to engage in a long term war was gone

Some generals like Moltke I think it was and Hoth knew in the second month of the invasion of the Soviet Union (1941) that if they didn’t give a good push for Moscow or take the oil supply fast they couldn’t withstand the war because it would become a slow war they couldn’t afford.

It's ironic that the man who owed his position to the power of propaganda to sway public opinion completely misjudged the ability of Western and Soviet propaganda to make their respective populations forget about the fact that they were actually from diametrically opposed ideologies.

Bruh late 1944? It was pretty much over by early 1943 with the defeat at Stalingrad and encirclement of the sixth army.

Well he was correct about the coalition collapsing but he miscalculated the timing. The Socialists waited until after the war was over before they implemented their own Socialist colonialism with the Iron curtain and the cold war in Africa, Asia and LatAm.
